BACKPACK BEGINNINGS' MISSION IS TO DELIVER CHILD-CENTRIC SERVICES TO FEED, COMFORT, AND CLOTHE CHILDREN IN NEED. BY ENSURING FOOD AND BASIC NECESSITIES ARE GIVEN DIRECTLY TO CHILDREN IN NEED, WE MAKE A POSITIVE AND LASTING IMPACT ON THEIR HEALTH AND WELL-BEING.

TO ACCOMPLISH BACKPACK BEGINNINGS' MISSION, BACKPACK BEGINNINGS DISTRIBUTES FOOD, CLOTHING AND COMFORT ITEMS TO CHILDREN THROUGH PARTNER AGENCY DISTRIBUTIONS AND ALSO THROUGH DIRECT CLIENT DISTRIBUTIONS. THE OBJECTIVE OF OUR FOOD PROGRAMS ARE TO FIGHT CHILDHOOD HUNGER. OUR PROGRAM REDUCES THE NEGATIVE IMPACTS OF HUNGER SO CHILDREN ARE READY TO LEARN IN SCHOOL AND SUCCEED IN LIFE. WE DISTRIBUTE OUR COMFORT BACKPACKS, OFFER CARE, COMFORT AND BASIC NECESSITIES TO CHILDREN EXPERIENCING TRAUMATIC SITUATIONS. WE PROVIDE BACKPACKS FULL OF COMFORT ITEMS SUCH AS BLANKETS, STUFFED ANIMALS, BOOKS, HYGIENE PRODUCTS, SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND MORE TO ABUSED/NEGLECTED, HOMELESS, FOSTER, AND REFUGEE CHILDREN. THE CLOTHING PROGRAM WAS OPENED IN RESPONSE TO ONGOING REQUESTS FROM SOCIAL WORKERS IN NEED OF APPROPRIATE CLOTHING FOR THE CHILDREN THEY SERVE. IN 2022, MORE THAN 381,000 POUNDS OF FOOD WAS DISTRIBUTED; APPROXIMATELY 20,100 ITEMS OF CLOTHING WERE DISTRIBUTED; APPROXIMATELY 45,000 COMFORT ITEMS (HYGIENE AND BOOKS) WERE DISTRIBUTED; APPROXIMATELY 320,000 DIAPERS WERE DISTRIBUTED. BACKPACK BEGINNINGS SERVED MORE THAN 21,000 CHILDREN IN FISCAL YEAR 2022. IN ADDITION, DURING 2022, THE ORGANIZATION IMPLEMENTED AN EXPANSION CAMPAIGN TO SUPPORTS ITS CONTINUED GROWTH IN REACHING MORE PEOPLE AND ESTABLISHED A FAMILY MARKET. THIS CAMPAIGN IS DESIGNED TO SUPPLEMENT LONG-TERM EXPANSION OVER 5 YEARS AND CONSEQUENTLY, 2022 REVENUES ARE HIGHER THAN NORMAL.
