OUR VOLUNTEERS COME TOGETHER TO COORDINATE THE HARVEST OF HOPE FESTIVAL ONCE A YEAR TO RAISE MONEY TO DONATE TO FAMILIES IN NEED. OUR 13 VOLUNTEER TRUSTEES MEET TO ORGANIZE THE EVENT AND TO REVIEW THE NOMINATIONS OF FAMILIES IN NEED TO DETERMINE THE RECIPIENT/RECIPIENTS OF THE FESTIVAL'S PROCEEDS FOR THE CURRENT YEAR. THIS FESTIVAL CONSISTS OF FOOD, TREATS, A SILENT AUCTION, KIDS' ZONE, BOUTIQUE, PUMPKIN PATCH, GRACEY'S GARDEN, AND CRAFTS. MOST OF THE SERVICES AND PRODUCTS ARE DONATED, AND VOLUNTEERS WORK THE EVENT. ADVERTISING IS DONE WITH COMMUNITY FLYERS, POSTERS, AND SOCIAL MEDIA. THE HARVEST OF HOPE FESTIVAL TRUSTEES CHOSE THE LEONIDAS FAMILY AS THE RECIPIENTS FOR 2016. THE FAMILY RECIEVED A TOTAL OF $40,319; HOWEVER, $40,000 WAS PAID IN THE BEGINNING OF 2017. LEONIDAS NKURUNZIZA GREW UP IN POVERTY STRICKEN BURUNDI. THROUGH THE REFUGEE PROGRAM HE, HIS WIFE GORETH, AND 6 SMALL CHILDREN WERE ABLE TO COME TO THE UNITED STATES IN FEBRUARY OF 2008.
