IN EARLY 2013, K-5 STUDENTS FROM NEIGHBORING PLAYA VISTA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ADOPTED A POLLINATOR GARDEN PLOT, WHERE THE STUDENTS LEARNED HOW TO PLANT AND TEND NATIVE PLANTS. SINCE THAT TIME, THE STUDENTS HAVE RETURNED AS PART OF THEIR STUDIES TO OBSERVE HOW THE GARDEN IS DOING AND WHAT KINDS OF WILDLIFE IT HAS ATTRACTED AND PARTICIPATE IN A BIRD COUNT. THE PARK IS A FOCAL STUDY SITE FOR STEM TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS THAT ARE PART OF THE NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION FUNDED BY URBANECOLAB CURRICULUM.
