OHIO DEPT OF ED SUMMER FREE FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM 5417 KIDS PROVIDED 49,592 MEALS DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC THIS PROGRAM ALLOWED US TO SERVE YOUTH FREE MEALS (UP TO 200 YOUTH/DAY A COMMUNITY-WIDE HEALTH MANDATED QUARENTINE RESULTED IN VIRTUAL CLASS AT HOME. THEY HAD NO ACCESS TO FREE/REDUCED SCHOOL LUNCH AT SCHOOL. CENSUS SHOWED COMMUNITY AT 53% LIVING IN POVERTY. DURING THE PANDEMIC OUR AGENCY ENSURED WE WERE NOT DUPLICATING MEALS BY THE SCHOOL. THEY PROVIDEDLUNCH & BREAKFAST; WE PROVIDED SNACK & DINNER. (REVENUES SHOWN INCLUDE REIMBURSEMENTS FROM PREVIOUS GRANT FY 6/2020 PAID IN JULY 2021 TRANSITION FROM CASH TO ACCRUAL METHOD REQUIRED INCLUSION OF JUNE EXP. IN CURRENT PERIOD.
350,293 LB.FOOD WERE DONATED, PICKED UP,SORTED & DISTRIBUTED TO FAMILI IN SOUTHERN MEDINA COUNTY DURING PANDEMIC. PER FOOD BANK,WE PROVIDED 225,881 MEALS TO 16,853 PEOPLE CENTER'S EMERGENCY PANTRY CONVERTED TO A DISTRIBUTION SERVICE INSTEA OF INSIDE SELF-SHOP PROGRAM. THIS FREED SPACE FOR DELIVERY & STORAGE. DUE TO LIMITED VOLUNTEERS, IT WAS MORE EFFICIENT FOR TRUCKS TO ARRIVE SHORTLY PRIOR TO OPENING OF PANTRY. STAFF UNLOADED INTO COOLERS, ETC. IN PARKING LOT. FOOD WAS DISTRIBUTED DIRECTLY TO FAMILIES BY VOLUNTEE THUS WE WERE ABLE TO MAINTAIN OUR'CHOICE STYLE" PANTRY. WE INCLUDED FACEBOOK POSTINGS, INSTAGRAM, OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA & PERSONAL PHONE CALL CANNING & FREEZING LESSONS, FOOD SAFETY * DRUG PREVENTION ALSO OFFERED
MOBILE MEALS: 19632 'FAMILY FOLLOW-UPS"COMPLETED WHILE OBTAINING PANTR BROWN BAG SNACKS/LUNCHES DISTRIBUTED TO FAMILIES/PROXIES WAITING FOR PANTRY.
