PROVIDING CCYS WITH THE FUNDS TO FEED ORPHANS AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN. THE ORPHAN FEEDING CENTER IN AREA 51 LOCATED OUTSIDE THE CAPITAL CITY OF LILONGWE, MALAWI. IN 2017 FUNDING FROM CHIKONDI MALAWI PROVIDED BREAKFAST AND LUNCH TO 390 TO 400 SCHOOL CHILDREN BETWEEN THE AGES OF 6 AND 13 EVERY SCHOOL DAY. SCHOOL ATTENDANCE IS MANDITORY FOR ALL CHILDREN IN THE FEEDING PROGRAM. WITHOUT THE FEEDING PROGRAM MANY OF THESE CHILDREN WOULD NOT BE IN SCHOOL.A SECOND PRIORITY FOR CCYS IS TO PROVIDE FOOD FOR THE ORPHAN AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN UNDER SIX YEARS OF AGE. THESE YOUNGER ORPHANS AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN ARE BEING FED A FORTIFIED PORRIDGE CALLED LIKUNI PHALA ONCE PER DAY IN THE MORNING. ALTHOUGH THEY ARE NOT IN SCHOOL, THEY ARE FED EVERY SCHOOL DAY TO BE ON THE SAME SCHEDULE AS THE OLDER CHILDREN. IN 2015 CCYS COMPLETED CONSTRUCTION OF A ROCKET STOVE FOR THE KITCHEN. THE ROCKET STOVE WILL REQUIRE TWO THIRDS LESS FIREWOOD THAN THE TRADITIONAL THREE-STONE WOOD FIRE. A BATHHOUSE WAS CONSTRUCTED IN ADDITION TO TWO FREESTANDING ENCLOSED TOILETS. NEW FLOORING WAS INSTALLED IN THE OLD KITCHEN WHICH IS USED AS A MEETING PLACE FOR THE CHILDREN UNDER 6 YEARS OF AGE.
