JUSTICE UNITED TOOK ACTION IN 2022 ON EACH OF THE TOP PRIORITIES WE COLLECTIVELY SET IN 2021: AFFORDABLE HOUSING, MENTAL HEALTH ACCESS, AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM. OVER 50 COMMUNITY LEADERS TRAINED IN AND CARRIED OUT OVER 80 RESEARCH MEETINGS TO SHAPE THE CAMPAIGNS. WE TURNED OUT OVER 650 MEMBERS AT PUBLIC ACTIONS WITH DECISION-MAKERS. THANKS TO OUR COLLECTIVE EFFORTS, WE WON:1) AFFORDABLE HOUSING: $250,000 PER YEAR FROM ORANGE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, TO HELP LOW-INCOME HOMEOWNERS STAY IN THEIR HOMES. TO PRESERVE EXISTING AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND FIGHT GENTRIFICATION, LEADERS ORGANIZED TO WIN AN ORANGE COUNTY PROPERTY TAX ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, FOR HOMEOWNERS MAKING LOW-INCOMES. THE PROGRAM CURRENTLY PROVIDES THE MOST FUNDING PER HOUSEHOLD OF ANY PROGRAM IN THE STATE.2) MENTAL HEALTH: OVER $1.5 MILLION FOR SPANISH-LANGUAGE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. INVESTMENT BY ALLIANCE HEALTH (THE PRIVATE COMPANY THAT CONTROLS ORANGE COUNTY'S PUBLIC MENTAL HEALTH FUNDS) TO FUND A 3-YEAR PLAN FOR BILINGUAL, CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE THERAPY TO ADDRESS THE MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS IN ORANGE COUNTY'S LATINO COMMUNITY. 3) CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM: DIVERSION OPTIONS AND DATA TRACKING FOR TRANSPARENCY IN THE LOCAL COURTS: COMMITMENTS FROM INCOMING DISTRICT ATTORNEY JEFF NIEMAN, INCLUDING MAKING DIVERSION OPTIONS FOR MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE USE SUPPORT "THE RULE, AND DATA TRACKING FOR RACIAL DISPARITIES.
