THE FOUNDATION RECEIVED DESIGNATED DONATIONS TO BE USED TO FUND THE EXPENSES OF THE FARMINGTON UNITED ROBOTICS TEAM. THE ROBOTICS TEAM CONSISTS OF STUDENTS FROM FARMINGTON HIGH SCHOOL, NORTH FARMINGTON HIGH SCHOOL AND THE MIDDLE SCHOOLS. THE TEAM CONSISTS OF APPROXIMATELY 100 STUDENTS. THESE DONATIONS WERE GIVEN TO THE FOUNDATION BY A NUMBER OF COMMUNITY DONORS TO BE USED FOR THE ROBOTICS TEAM IN FARMINGTON. THE REMAINING FUNDS ARE ON ACCOUNT, WAITING TO BE SPENT BY THE GRANT RECIPIENTS.
THE FOUNDATION RECEIVED DONATIONS TO FUND OUR "OPERATION COMMON GOOD" FUND WHICH COVERS VARIOUS EXPENSES OF HOMELESS STUDENTS LIVING WITHIN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. THE DONATIONS ARE USED TO COVER THE COSTS OF TYPICAL EXPENSES INCLUDING TEMPORARY HOUSING, FOOD, SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND FIELD TRIPS. ALL FUNDS THAT HAD BEEN HELD IN ACCOUNT BY US WERE TRANSFERRED TO A NEW ORGANIZATION DURING THIS YEAR WHO WILL BE SUPPORTING THEIR EFFORTS IN THE FUTURE.
THE FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTS TO TEACHERS, STAFF OR OTHER INDIVIDUALS WHO WANT TO OFFER INNOVATIVE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS IN THE AREAS OF TECHNOLOGY, SCHOLASTIC ACHIEVEMENT, THE ARTS OR EXTRA-CURRICULAR ENRICHMENT.
