ART & MEMORY EDUCATION PROGRAMS: 2,785 PARTICIPANTS THESE CREATIVE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS CONNECT STUDENTS WITH HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS TO DOCUMENT THEIR EXPERIENCES THROUGH ART, FILM, AND THEATER PROJECTS, TEACHING THE POWER OF PERSEVERANCE. STUDENTS ARE EMPOWERED TO STAND AGAINST ANTISEMITISM, BIGOTRY AND HATRED THROUGH INTERGENERATIONAL DIALOGUE, ARTIFACT-BASED LEARNING, MUSEUM GALLERY EXPLORATION, AND REFLECTIVE ART WORKSHOPS. UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES, THE MUSEUM PROVIDES TRANSPORTATION FOR SCHOOL TRIPS TO ENSURE THAT NO VISITOR IS TURNED AWAY. PUBLIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS: 5,677 VIRTUAL ATTENDEES AND 124 IN PERSON. THE MUSEUM HOSTS FREE PUBLIC EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, INCLUDING BOOK TALKS, CONCERTS, FILM SCREENINGS, HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR SPEAKERS, AND EXHIBITION OPENINGS. THESE POIGNANT EVENTS ENGAGE THE PUBLIC IN DISCUSSIONS ON THE SOCIAL RELEVANCE OF THE HOLOCAUST AND THE IMPORTANCE OF FIGHTING DISCRIMINATION, BIAS, AND RACISM. STUDENTS SERVED: 24,516 SCHOOLS SERVED: 349 TRANSPORTATION GRANTS AWARDED: 2 TRANSPORTATION GRANT STUDENTS: 127 TITLE I SCHOOLS: 159 TITLE I STUDENTS: 11,658 PUBLIC PROGRAM ATTENDEES 5,801 *THE MUSEUM OPENED ITS DOORS TO LIMITED CAPACITY ON JULY 31, 2021 AFTER BEING CLOSED DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. THE REDUCED CAPACITY OF VISITORS AS WELL AS THE REDUCED NUMBER OF DAYS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC DUE TO THE ONGOING PANDEMIC IMPACTED VISITOR NUMBERS. MUSEUM STAFF CONTINUED TO OFFER PROGRAMS AND STUDENT TOURS VIRTUALLY AND IN-PERSON. THE MUSEUM'S EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY CONTINUES TO USE PRIMARY SOURCES AND ORAL HISTORY TO ENGAGE STUDENTS AND VISITORS IN DISCUSSIONS ON HOLOCAUST HISTORY, THE DANGERS OF "OTHERING AND HATE RHETORIC, AND THE IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL JUSTICE.
