ACADEMY FOR LEADERSHIP IN LONG TERM CARE PROGRAM - 2017 ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR THE ACADEMY:TRAINING WAS PROVIDED TO NURSES FROM 27 LONG TERM CARE AND SENIOR LIVING ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT NYS. TRAINED 166 NURSES IN THE NATIONAL TEAMSTEPPS PROGRAM. 20 RNS & LPNS WERE TRAINED IN CLINICAL SKILLS ENHANCEMENT INCLUDING CARDIO/RESPIRATORY AND INFECTIOUS DISEASES. 33 RNS & LPNS WERE TRAINED IN MAXIMIZING MANAGEMENT SKILLS AND THE IMPACT OF COMMUNICATION SKILLS. 90 NURSES ATTENDED THE UNDERSTANDING DEMENTIA PROGRAM. TOTAL NURSES TRAINED IN 2017 WAS 309.
HEALTH WORKFORCE RETRAINING INITIATIVE - CNAS TRAINED AS LPNS CAREER LADDER PROGRAM- FOUR STUDENTS WERE SUPPORTED IN THIS PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDES BOOKS, UNIFORMS AND A WAGE SUBSIDY FOR REDUCED WORK HOURS SPENT IN SCHOOL. TWO OF THEM GRADUATED IN JUNE AND HAVE BEEN HIRED AS LPNS IN 2017. THREE NEW STUDENTS STARTED THE YEAR LONG PROGRAM IN JUNE 2017. A SECOND PROGRAM, LPNS TRAINED AS RNS CAREER LADDER PROGRAM WAS IMPLEMENTED IN 2017. ELEVEN STUDENTS WERE SUPPORTED IN THIS PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDES BOOKS, UNIFORMS, AND A WAGE SUBSIDY FOR REDUCED WORK HOURS SPENT IN SCHOOL. TWO OF THE EMPLOYEES GRADUATED IN 2017 AND WERE HIRED AS RNS.
