THE MSU INNOVATION CAMPUS CONTINUES TO MAKE SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS IN ESTABLISHING A RESEARCH PARK TO PROMOTE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, RESEARCH, AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES. THE FIRST BUILDING, THE $17 MILLION DOLLAR APPLIED RESEARCH LAB, OFFICIALLY OPENED ON FEBRUARY 23, 2020. ITS PURPOSE IS TO UTILIZE MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY FACULTY AND STUDENTS COMBINED WITH MONTANA INDUSTRY TO ENGAGE IN MANY AREAS OF THE UNIVERSITY'S RESEARCH EXPERTISE, INCLUDING LASER AND PHOTONICS, ADVANCED MANUFACTURING, ADVANCED MATERIALS, AND CYBER SECURITY IN COLLABORATION WITH THE U.S. GOVERNMENT AND INDUSTRY. ADDITIONAL TRACTS FOR DEVELOPMENT WITHIN THE 42 ACRE CAMPUS ARE BEING PLANNED NOW AS PART OF THIS EXCITING MULTIPHASE PROJECT FOR HIGH-TECH LAB, OFFICE, AND LIGHT MANUFACTURING SPACE WITH KEY INDUSTRY PARTNERS. A SECOND 88,000 SF BUILDING FOR PROFESSIONAL, MULTI TENANT OFFICE TO SUPPORT MSU RESEARCH AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WAS APPROVED FOR DEVELOPMENT IN MAY OF 2021. CONSTRUCTION IS ANTICIPATED TO BEGIN IN THE SPRING OF 2022 AND OPERATIONAL IN MID 2023.
