DURING THE YEAR, THE ORGANIZATION HAS NOW SUCCESSFULLY RESTORED OVER 50 ACRES AND PLANTED OVER 250,000 NATIVE EELGRASS PLANTS. WE ALSO HAVE TO DATE UNCLOGGED OVER 700 SPRING VENTS AND HAVE REMOVED MILLIONS POUNDS OF DETRITAL MATERIAL AND LYNGBYA IN KINGS BAY LOCATED IN CRYSTAL RIVER, FLORIDA. WE HAVE CREATED A PUBLIC OUTREACH/EDUCATION CAMPAIGN USING OUR WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA TO HELP EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS PROJECT. SAVE CRYSTAL RIVER ALSO PARTNERED AGAIN WITH THE CRYSTAL RIVER PRIMARY SCHOOL AND DUKE ENERGY FOR A YEAR-LONG PROJECT WHERE STUDENTS GREW EELGRASS IN EVERY CLASSROOM. THIS EELGRASS FARM WAS INCORPORATED INTO ALL ASPECTS OF THEIR CURRICULUM FROM SCIENCE TO ART CLASS. THIS PROJECT HAS A LASTING IMPACT IN CREATING LONG-TERM ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDS.
