TO PARTNER WITH INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES IN PANAMA TO PROTECT THEIR LAND RIGHTS, SUPPORT THEIR STEWARDSHIP OF THEIR RAINFOREST ECOSYSTEMS, AND EDUCATE THEIR YOUTH.

TERRITORIAL MONITORING PROGRAM ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLAINTS HAVE RESULTED IN 36 INDIVIDUALS CITED FOR THEIR ENVIRONMENTAL VIOLATIONS BY PANAMAS MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT. THIRTEEN WERE FINED FOR THEIR ECOLOGICAL DAMAGES AND 23 ARE UNDER FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CRIMES. THREE VIOLATORS ARE IN PRISON.


TWENTY-FOUR VOLUNTEERS FROM 3 WOUNAAN COMMUNITIES WERE TRAINED TO FIGHT FOREST FIRES. FIVE WOUNAAN COMMUNITIES DEVELOPED A SEED SHARING AND DIVERSIFICATION STRATEGY TO MEET NATIVE TREE REFORESTATION GOALS. AN ADDITIONAL 6,159 TREES WERE PLANTED IN TWO COMMUNITIES.


NATIVE FUTURE PROVIDES SUPPORT TO 53 STUDENTS IN THE NGBE BUGLÉ BUENOS AIRES REGION IN HIGH SCHOOL AND UNIVERSITY PROGRAMS. ONE WOUNAAN STUDENT IS IN HER FINAL UNIVERSITY YEAR, STUDYING FORESTRY IN HONDURAS. BEYOND ACADEMIC EXPENSES, FUNDS ASSIST WITH TRAVEL, ROOM AND BOARD, EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR CLASSES.
