Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
THE MISSION OF NATURETRACK IS TWOFOLD: TO ENCOURAGE PARTICIPANTS (STUDENTS AND WHEELCHAIR USERS) TO EMBRACE OUR NATURAL WORLD WITH RESPECT AND WONDER, INSPIRING THEM TO BE STEWARDS OF OUR NATURAL RESOURCES; AND TO PREPARE SCHOOL-AGE STUDENTS WITH ATTITUDES, LEADERSHIP SKILLS, AND HABITS FOR LIFELONG LEARNING.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
NATURETRACK WRAPPED UP SEASON 11 FOR OUR TRADITIONAL K-12 FIELD TRIPS. WE HAD JUST SHY OF 3,500 STUDENTS OUT ON TRAILS AND BEACHES THIS SCHOOL YEAR, WHICH IS DOWN FROM PRE-COVID NUMBERS, BUT WE FEEL IT IS IMPRESSIVE SINCE MANY SCHOOLS DID NOT ALLOW FIELD TRIPS UNTIL THE SECOND SEMESTER. WE EXPANDED OUR PROGRAM TO WHEELCHAIR USERS, PROVIDING THEM WITH FREEDOM TRAX, AN ALL-TERRAIN DEVICE THAT, WHEN ATTACHED TO A MANUAL WHEELCHAIR, ALLOWS THE USER TO TRAVERSE SAND AND TRAILS INDEPENDENTLY. WE NOW HAVE 10 TRAX AND PROVIDE MONTHLY TRIPS. WE LEND TRAX TO INDIVIDUALS AND LIKE-MINDED NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS WHO WOULD LIKE TO INCLUDE WHEELCHAIR USERS IN THEIR PROGRAMMING. WE OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED THE EXPANDED PROGRAM IN THE FALL OF 2021, AND TO DATE, MORE THAN 93 PEOPLE PARTICIPATED EITHER IN ONE OF THE MONTHLY TRIPS OR AT AN EVENT WE ATTENDED.
DUE TO COVID, THE FOURTH ANNUAL NATURETRACK FILM FESTIVAL (NTFF) REMAINED A VIRTUAL FESTIVAL SCREENING FROM OCTOBER 17 THROUGH 31 WITH A ONE-DAY, IN-PERSON, ONE-VENUE FESTIVAL ON OCTOBER 16 IN LOS OLIVOS, CA.
