HIGH SCHOOL INC. ACADEMIES FOUNDATION WAS ESTABLISHED FOR TWO PRIMARY REASONS TO FUNDRAISE AND ACT AS THE LIAISON BETWEEN THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY AND THE SCHOOL DISTRICT TO SUPPORT THE WORK OF HIGH SCHOOL INC., A PRIVATE-PUBLIC PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE SANTA ANA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, SANTA ANA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT, AND THE HIGH SCHOOL INC. FOUNDATION. BASED ON RESEARCH CONDUCTED TO DETERMINE WHAT BUSINESS NEEDS TO SUCCEED AND GROW IN SANTA ANA AND NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES, HIGH SCHOOL INC. WAS CREATED AS A WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE TO BRIDGE THE SKILLS GAP. STUDENTS BECOME JOB-READY AS THEY PREPARE TO ENTER THE WORKFORCE OR TO GO ON TO COLLEGE AFTER GRADUATION. IN ADDITION TO REGULAR COURSE WORK TO EARN A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, THE HIGH SCHOOL INC. PROGRAM PROVIDES ADDITIONAL HANDS-ON BUSINESS EXPERIENCE AND MENTORING SO STUDENTS CAN BECOME AWARE OF CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN THESE SIX INDUSTRIES (ACADEMICS): CULINARY AND HOSPITALITY; HEALTH CARE; AUTOMOTIVE; TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS; NEW MEDIA, GLOBAL BUSINESS; AND ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING.
