THE CORPORATION INVITES SPEAKERS TO COME BEFORE THEMEMBERSHIP AND ADDRESS, WITHIN THEIR AREAS OF EXPERTISE,AREAS OF INTEREST TO CONTRACTORS IN THE INDUSTRIAL PAINTINGAND COATING INDUSTRY IN ORDER TO MAKE MEMBERSHIP BETTERINFORMED AND KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT VARIOUS ASPECTS OF THEIRBUSINESS, SO AS TO IMPROVE THE OPERATIONS AND BUSINESSPROCEDURES OF THE MEMBERS, THEREBY ADVANCING THE INDUSTRY.
IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE STANDING AND REPUTATION OF UNION INDUSTRIAL PAINTING CONTRACTORS IN THE MARKETPLACE, THE CORPORATION INTENDS, FROM TIME TO TIME, TO INVITE TO MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS FACILITY OWNERS AND ENGINEERS WHO OFTEN ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SELECTING INDUSTRIAL PAINTING FIRMS FOR PROJECTS.
THE MEMBERS OF THE CORPORATION ARE INDUSTRIAL PAINTING CONTRACTING FIRMS WHOSE FIELD EMPLOYEES ARE MEMBERS OF THE INTERNATIONAL UNION OF PAINTERS AND ALLIED TRADES, BRIDGE, TANK AND STRUCTURAL STEEL LOCAL UNION NO. 1331. THE WAGES, FRINGE BENEFITS AND OTHER TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT OF THESE FIELD EMPLOYEES ARE SET FORTH IN A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CORPORATION AND STRUCTURAL STEEL LOCAL UNION NO. 1331, WHICH IS SUBJECT TO RENEWAL AND RENEGOTIATION, GENERALLY EVERY THREE YEARS. THE MEMBERS OF THE CORPORATION SHARE A COMMON INTEREST IN NEGOTIATING RENEWALS OF THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WHICH WILL CONTAIN TERMS THAT WILL ALLOW THE MEMBERS TO COMPETE EFFECTIVELY IN THE MARKETPLACE WHILE AT THE SAME TIME PROVIDING FOR THEIR EMPLOYEES.
THE NEW FIELD WORKERS IN THE UNION CONSTRUCTION SECTOR RECEIVE THEIR TRAINING IN AN APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM WHICH IS JOINTLY ADMINISTERED BY MANAGEMENT REPRESENTATIVES AND BY UNION REPRESENTATIVES. THIS JOINT APPRENTICESHIP COMMITTEE FORMULATES THE CURRICULUM AND SCHEDULE OF TRAINING TO BE RECEIVED BY WORKERS. CORPORATION MEMBERS MONITOR THE TRAINING PROGRAM AND RECOMMEND THE INTRODUCTION INTO THE PROCESS OF THE TEACHING OF NEW SKILLS AND TECHNIQUES THAT ARE REQUIRED IN THE INDUSTRIAL PAINTING AND COATING INDUSTRY. OVERSIGHT OF THE TRAINING OF APPRENTICES IS VITAL TO THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE INDUSTRIAL PAINTING INDUDSTRY TO ENSURE THAT THERE IS A CONSTANT INFLUX OF NEWLY TRAINED AND SKILLED WORKERS WHO ARE PREPARED TO PERFORM PRODUCTIVELY AND EFFECTIVELY AT THE JOB SITE.
