DDWR WAS FORMED TO SAVE DOGS AND CATS FROM HIGH KILL SHELTERS AND BAD HOMES. THE RESCUE TAKES DOGS AND CATS THAT WOULD OTHERWISE HAVE BEEN EUTHANIZED AND FINDS THEM HOMES WITH PEOPLE WHO WILL LOVE AND TAKE GOOD CARE OF THEM.

FORMED IN 2008, DDWR HAS RESCUED AND FOUND FOREVER HOMES FOR 2,860 DOGS AND MORE THAN 494 CATS. DURING 2018, 302 DOGS AND 364 CATS WERE ADOPTED BY INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WHO WERE WANTING TO ADD A FOUR LEGGED FAMILY MEMBER TO THEIR HOUSEHOLD. THE ANIMALS THAT WERE ADOPTED ALL CAME FROM HIGH KILL SHELTERS AND HAD NOT THE RESCUE BEEN ABLE TO TAKE THEM, THESE PETS WOULD HAVE BEEN EUTHANIZED. AS AN ALL VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION, THE VOLUNTEERS MADE EVERY ADOPTION POSSIBLE.
DDWRS COMMUNITY OUTREACH EFFORTS INCLUDE TAKING DOGS AND CATS TO THE DENVER PET EXPO TO INCEASE COMMUNITY AWARENESS ABOUT THE PLIGHT OF HOMELESS ANIMALS. THE RESCUE ALSO HAS BEEN PROVIDING BETTER QUALITY PET FOODS TO RELIEF ORGANIZATIONS THAT HELP SHELTER DISPLACED AND HOMELESS PEOPLE AND THEIR PETS. THROUGH ITS RELATIONSHIPS WITH RETAILERS, IT CAN BUY GOOD QUALITY DOG AND CAT FOOD AT REDUCED PRICES TO DONATE TO ORGANIZATIONS LIKE EVERYBODY COUNTS AND THE PUEBLO COMMUNITY KITCHEN SO THAT PEOPLE WHO NEED HELP CAN FEED THEIR DOGS AND CATS AS WELL AS THEIR FAMILIES.
DOGGY DOG WORLD RESCUE WORKS CLOSELY WITH RETAILERS LIKE PETSMART AND PETCO WHO SPONSOR ADOPTION EVENTS AT THEIR STORES. THESE EVENTS PROVIDE THE STORES CUSTOMERS WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO MEET AND INTERACT WITH THE AVAILABLE DOGS AND CATS AND FREQUENTLY, PEOPLE FIND JUST THE RIGHT PET TO SUIT THEIR LIFESTYLE AND LIVING CONDITIONS.
