LYRIC OPERA OF KANSAS CITY'S ARTISTIC PROGRAMMING IN THE 2021-2022 SEASON INCLUDED LYRIC OPERA GOES TO HOLLYWOOD, A TRIBUTE TO OPERA'S USE IN FILM; THE (R)EVOLUTION OF STEVE JOBS, A CONTEMPORARY OPERA EXPLORING THE COMPLEX HUMAN BEHIND THE APPLE BRAND; AND THE LYRIC'S PRODUCTION OF A BELOVED CLASSIC, TOSCA. THE 2021-2022 SEASON ALSO SAW THE FIRST LIVE, IN-PERSON PRODUCTION OF OUR NEW HOLIDAY TRADITION, AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS, IN OUR PRODUCTION ARTS BUILDING. WE SHOWCASED OUR RESIDENT AND APPRENTICE ARTISTS PROGRAMS IN A PUBLIC SCENES PROGRAM ENTITLED LYRIC OPERA GOES TO ITALY, ALSO IN OUR PRODUCTION ARTS BUILDING. THE SEASON ALSO INCLUDED FOUR SOUNDSCAPES IN THE CITY CONCERTS PERFORMED OUTSIDE AT VARIOUS VENUES THROUGHOUT THE GREATER KANSAS CITY METROPOLITAN AREA.
IN THE 2021-2022 SEASON, LYRIC OPERA OF KANSAS CITY'S YOUTH EDUCATION PROGRAMMING INCLUDED THREE STUDENT DRESS REHEARSALS AND A RESIDENCY AT SHAWNEE MISSION NORTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL, THROUGH WHICH STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN ONE-ON-ONE AND GROUP VOCAL TRAINING; ATTENDANCE OF A DRESS REHEARSAL OF LYRIC OPERA GOES TO HOLLYWOOD; A LYRIC OPERA FACILITIES TOUR; ATTENDANCE OF A PRIVATE RECITAL BY RESIDENT ARTISTS; AND THE CREATION OF AN ORIGINAL ONE-ACT REVUE. ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMMING INCLUDED OPERA TO GO, WHICH BRINGS THE LYRIC'S APPRENTICE ARTISTS TO RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES TO PRESENT OPERA ARIAS, DUETS, AND MUSIC THEATER FAVORITES; AT EASE WITH OPERA, A FREE LECTURE SERIES THAT PROVIDES AUDIENCES WITH INSIGHTS FROM REGIONAL SCHOLARS IN COORDINATION WITH THE ARTISTIC SEASON; AND THE NEW COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS SERIES, WHICH IS PRESENTED IN COLLABORATION WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO EXPLORE THE "HERE AND NOW" IMPLICATIONS OF THE LYRIC'S PRODUCTIONS.
