OUR NON-PROFIT, NON-PARTISAN LAW FIRM'S MISSION IS TO DEFEND AND EXTEND CIVIL LIBERTIES, TO ACHIEVE THE PROMISE OF EQUALITY AND LIBERTY FOR ALL IN MISSOURI, THROUGH IMPACT LITIGATION AND CAMPAIGNS, NARRATIVE AND LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY, AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENT.

LITIGATION ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR THE REPORTED YEAR INCLUDE: WON APPEAL ON OUR FREE SPEECH CASE CHALLENGE TO PUBLIC OFFICIAL'S POLICY OF BLOCKING CONSTITUENTS BASED ON VIEWPOINT, LEAD PROACTIVE VOTING RIGHTS ACT LITIGATION CHALLENGING A STATE ELECTION PROVISION THAT DISENFRANCHISES VOTERS WITH LIMITED ENGLISH PROFICIENCY OR WITH DISABILITIES WHO REQUIRE ASSISTANCE IN CASTING A BALLOT, CHALLENGING PROVISIONS LIMITING VOTER REGISTRATION ACTIVITY AND THE DISTRIBUTION OF ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATIONS, LITIGATING NEW REQUIREMENTS THAT WOULD LIMIT SPECIFIC FORMS OF PHOTO IDENTIFICATION TO VOTE IN PERSON AND ABSENTEE, DEFENDING AGAINST ATTACKS ON THE INITIATIVE PETITION PROCESS, AND LITIGATION CHALLENGING BOOK BANS. WE FOUGHT TO PROTECT AND EXPAND THE RIGHTS OF TRANSGENDER MISSOURIANS THROUGH LITIGATION, NARRATIVE ADVOCACY, PUBLIC EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENT, AND CONTINUED OUR COMMUNITY OUTREACH IN THE HAYTI SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE PURPOSE OF BUILDING LOCAL SUPPORT FOR POLICIES THAT ARE RESPONSIVE TO THE COMMUNITY AND DISRUPT THE SCHOOL-TO-PRISON PIPELINE. IN ADDITION, WE WERE RECOGNIZED BY THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL LIBRARIANS FOR OUR LEGAL AND ADVOCACY WORK TO PROTECT AND DEFEND MISSOURI STUDENTS' RIGHT TO READ.
