PARK VISITATION INCREASED 24% DURING THE FISCAL YEAR WITH 35,214 VISITORS (THE HIGHEST SINCE 2019 @ 48,000 VISITORS). THE PARK REPORTED 38,000 WEBSITE VISITORS WITH OVER 93,000 VIEWS, 5,000 OFFSITE CONTACTS, 7,000 FIELD TRIP STUDENTS, 750 DISTANT LEARNERS, 2,000 JUNIOR RANGERS, AND 4 TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES. BOARD MEMBERS SERVED WITH THE PARK STAFF TO CARRY OUT PARK SPECIAL EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES INCLUDING THE ART & ESSAY CONTEST, CARVER DAY, PRAIRIE DAY, THE NATURALIZATION CEREMONY WITH ABOUT 60 NEW U.S. CITIZENS, AND MORE; SEVERAL BOARD MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN CONFERENCES AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES; PARTICIPATED IN THE RETIREMENT RECEPTION FOR SUPT. ON AUGUST 31, 2023, CBA SIGNED A GRANT AWARD AGREEMENT WITH THE NATIONAL TRUST FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATION - AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURAL HERITAGE ACTION FUND - FOR 70,000 TO WORK ON THE INTERIOR REHABILITATION OF THE 1872 NEOSHO COLORED SCHOOL. PARK RANGERS PROVIDED INTERPRETIVE PROGRAMS ON A QUARTERLY BASIS AT THE HISTORIC SCHOOL, AND SEVERAL BOARD MEMBERS ATTENDED INTERPRETIVE CONTEXT TRAINING PROVIDED BY THE PARK.
