WATERSHED EDUCATION: INITIATIVES ENCOMPASS THE "EARTH STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM" A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT WITH FOUR NEARBY SCHOOLS INVOLVING HUNDREDS OF 7TH GRADERS THROUGHOUT THE ACADEMIC YEAR. ADDITIONALLY, WE HOST THE "BITTERROOT RIVER CLEAN-UPX AND "CLEAN-UP ALL YEAR," A REUSABLE TRASH BAG PROGRAM TO PROMOTE DAILY RIVER STEWARDSHIP, ALONG WITH TAILORED PRESENTATIONS FOR COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND LOCAL RESIDENTS.


WATERSHED RESTORATION PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION AND MONITORING: AT SKALKAHO BEND PARK, WE CONTINUED THE "ROOTS AGAINST EROSION" PROJECT, OVER- SEEING THE MAINTENANCE OF THOUSANDS OF NATIVE PLANTS. WORK CONT- INUED ON THE BURNT FORK, WHICH INVOLVED PROTECTIVE MEASURES TO ENHANCE WATER QUALITY AND SUPPORT THE LOCAL FISHERY. THE WATERSHED ENHANCEMENT TEAM MONITORED SITES INCLUDING THE EAST FORK, BURNT FORK AND BITTERROOT RIVER.


ENGAGEMENT WITH LANDOWNERS, PROJECT AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT: CREATED PROPOSALS AND PROGRAMS FOR INITIATIVES TO IMPROVE WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT. PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS WILL ENHANCE THE ECOLOGICAL INTEGRITY OF BITTERROOT WATERS AND ENGAGE MORE CITIZENS IN ACTIVE STEWARDSHIP.
