TO PROTECT, PRESERVE AND ENHANCE THE LONG-TERM HEALTH AND VIABILITY OF THE BIGHORN RIVER RECOGNIZING ITS SIGNIFICANCE TO THE WILD TROUT FISHER, THE AGRICULTURAL COMMUNITY AND THE CROW NATION THROUGH WHICH IT FLOWS.

RESEARCH INITIATIVE: AN EDUCATIONAL STUDY TO BETTER UNDERSTAND HOW THE BIGHORN RIVER ECOSYSTEM RESPONDS TO NATURAL AND HUMAN FACTORS. THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROJECT WAS BASED UPON THE UNDERSTANDING THAT A QUALITY INTERDISIPLINARY INFORMATION BASE IS CRITICAL TO THE ORGANIZATION IN MEETING ITS STEWARDSHIP OBJECTIVES IN THE AREAS OF POLICY, PROJECTS, AND EDUCATION.


PROVIDED EDUCATION AND AWARENESS OF THE BIGHORN RIVER ECOSYSTEM


TENKARA WITH THE TRIBE: A YOUTH EDUCATIONAL FISHING PROGRAM CREATED TO CONNECT THE LOCAL CROW TRIBAL YOUTH WITH FISHING AS A POSITIVE FORM OF RECREATION WITHIN THEIR RESERVATION. THIS PROGRAM WAS CANCELLED FOR THE 2020 AND 2021 YEARS DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC. HOWEVER, THE PROGRAM IS EXPECTED TO RESUME DURING THE 2022 YEAR.
