STREAM TEAMS UNITED PROMOTES AND SUPPORTS MISSOURI STREAM TEAMS AND STREAM TEAM ASSOCIATIONS. WE FACILITATE EDUCATION OF STREAM TEAMS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN ORDER TO BUILD AN APPRECIATION AND KNOWLEDGE OF MISSOURI STREAM RESOURCES. WE SUPPORT STEWARDSHIP PROJECTS TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF MISSOURI'S RIVERS AND STREAMS. WE ADVOCATE FOR CLEAN WATER, PROVIDE INFORMATION TO MISSOURI CITIZENS, AND SERVE AS A UNITED VOICE FOR HEALTHY MISSOURI WATERS.

WATERSHED BASED STEWARDSHIP AND EDUCATION. STREAM TEAMS UNITED WORKS WITH LOCAL STREAM TEAMS AND PARTNERS TO FACILITATE WATER QUALITY EDUCATION AND STEWARDSHIP ACTIVITIES WITHIN SELECTED MISSOURI WATERSHEDS. DURING 2021, STREAM TEAMS UNITED HELPED FACILITATE WATER QUALITY EDUCATION WITHIN THE SALT RIVER WATERSHED OF NORTHEAST MISSOURI, WITH ACTIVITIES INCLUDING CREATION OF AN EDUCATIONAL VIDEO, INTERPRETIVE SIGNS AT PUBLIC WATER BODIES, WORKSHOPS AND TOURS FOR LAND MANAGERS, MEDIA, AND ELECTED OFFICIALS, AND A RIVER LITTER CLEANUP EVENT. PAST WATERSHED EFFORTS HAVE INCLUDED ASSESSMENTS IN THE BULL CREEK AND RIVER DES PERES WATERSHEDS. STREAM TEAMS UNITED ALSO SUPPORT REGIONAL WATERSHED BASED STREAM TEAM ASSOCIATIONS' LOCAL PROJECTS BY PROVIDING EQUIPMENT AND FUNDING FOR LITTER PICK-UP EVENTS AND RIPARIAN PLANT RESTORATION PROJECTS.


PADDLE MO. STREAM TEAMS UNITED HOSTS ANNUAL MULTI-DAY EDUCATIONAL RIVER ADVENTURES ON SEVERAL OF MISSOURI'S GREATEST RIVERWAYS. THE PADDLE MO PROGRAM PROVIDES INDIVIDUALS THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE A MULTI-DAY RIVER TRIP WHERE THE LOGISTICS AND SUPPORT ARE PROVIDED BY STREAM TEAMS UNITED AND STREAM TEAM VOLUNTEERS. PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE INSTRUCTION ON PADDLING, RIVER SAFETY, AND THE ECOLOGY AND HISTORY OF THE RIVER AND ITS SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES. THE PADDLE MO PROGRAM HELPS PROMOTE MISSOURI AS THE "GREAT RIVERS STATE" AND CONNECT PADDLERS TO THE EFFORTS OF THE MISSOURI STREAM TEAM PROGRAM, WITH THE GOAL OF GROWING THE COMMUNITY OF RIVER STEWARDS WITHIN THE STATE.


AMERICORPS VISTA - WAVES FOR SUCCESSFUL LIVES AND CLEAN COMMUNITIES. STREAM TEAMS UNITED SERVES AS A SPONSOR FOR A STATEWIDE AMERICORPS VISTA PROJECT, WHICH SERVES TO PLACE AMERICORPS MEMBERS AT STREAM TEAM HOST-SITES IN THE STATE OF MISSOURI. AMERICORPS MEMBERS AT THESE SITES HELP INCREASE THE CAPACITY OF THE HOST SITE TO REACH LOW INCOME YOUTH WITH WATER QUALITY EDUCATION AND OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPERIENCE NATURE. AMERICORPS MEMBER ACTIVITIES INCLUDE DEVELOPMENT OF CURRICULUM AND OUTREACH CONTENT, RECRUITMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF VOLUNTEERS, PARTNERSHIP BUILDING, AND GRANT WRITING AND FUNDRAISING EFFORTS.


STREAM ADVOCACY. STREAM TEAMS UNITED PROVIDES INFORMATION TO MISSOURI STREAM TEAMS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC RELATED TO WAYS THEY CAN ADVOCATE FOR MISSOURI'S RIVERS, STREAMS, AND NATURAL RESOURCES. STREAM TEAMS UNITED PROVIDES INFORMATION ABOUT PUBLIC HEARINGS, STAKEHOLDER MEETINGS, AND OPPORTUNITIES TO PROVIDE WRITTEN COMMENTS FOR WATER RELATED ISSUES THROUGHOUT THE STATE. STREAM TEAMS UNITED REVIEWS STATE LEGISLATION, REGULATIONS, PERMITS, AND PLANS TO DETERMINE IF THERE ARE PROPOSED CHANGES THAT ARE OF INTEREST TO THE STREAM TEAM COMMUNITY AND PROVIDES INTERPRETATION OF PROPOSED CHANGES FOR STREAM TEAMS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. STREAM TEAMS UNITED HOSTS AN ANNUAL STREAM ADVOCACY WORKSHOP TO DISCUSS CURRENT ADVOCACY ISSUES AND PROVIDE INFORMATION ON HOW TEAMS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC CAN HELP ADVOCATE FOR RIVERS, STREAMS, AND NATURAL RESOURCES.
