TO PROVIDE FUNDING AND RESOURCES TO CATHOLIC SCHOOLS TO SUPPORT INCLUSIVE LEARNING.

FIRE PROVIDED FINANCIAL GRANTS TOTALING OVER $630,000 FOR THE 2021-22 ACADEMIC YEAR TO ASSIST 14 CATHOLIC SCHOOLS, LOCATED WITHIN THE DIOCESE OF KANSAS CITY-ST. JOSEPH, IN PROVIDING INCLUSIVE EDUCATION SO CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS ARE EDUCATED ALONGSIDE PEERS IN THEIR HOME PARISH SCHOOLS AND TWO DIOCESAN HIGH SCHOOLS. THIS AMOUNT REPRESENTS A 10% INCREASE IN SUPPORT OVER LAST YEAR. GRANTS ASSIST WITH THE COSTS OF SALARIES FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS, PARA-EDUCATORS AS WELL AS RESOURCES, TECHNOLOGY, AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR EDUCATORS.
FIRE CONTINUED PROVIDING SPEECH-LANGUAGE THERAPY SERVICES AT SEVERAL SCHOOLS. DURING 2021-22, SEVEN SCHOOLS RECEIVED SERVICES IN ADDITION TO A LIMITED OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY COMPONENT. STUDENTS AT THESE SCHOOLS WERE ABLE TO RECEIVE SCHOOL-BASED THERAPY SERVICES. EVALUATIONS FROM EDUCATORS AND FAMILIES WERE HIGHLY FAVORABLE.
FIRE FOUNDATION CONTINUED TO WORK WITH INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, SHARING OUR MODEL OF INCLUSION SUPPORT AND ADVOCACY. FIRE IS NOW GUIDING THE DEVELOPMENT AND GROWTH OF THE FOLLOWING AFFILIATES: FIRE FOUNDATION OF NORTHWEST IOWA IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF DUBUQUE, FIRE FOUNDATION OF NEW HAMPSHIRE, FIRE FOUNDATION OF CENTRAL ILLINOIS, FIRE FOUNDATION OF DALLAS, FIRE FOUNDATION OF GREATER CHICAGO, FIRE FOUNDATION OF NW INDIANA, FIRE FOUNDATION OF NORTHWEST IOWA, FIRE FOUNDATION OF DENVER. FIRE FOUNDATION CONTINUED ITS ROLE AS AN ADVOCATE FOR INCLUSIVE CATHOLIC EDUCATION BY LENDING EXPERTISE TO OTHER SCHOOL COMMUNITIES ENDEAVORING TO WELCOME STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS.
