THE YOUTH COUNCIL FOR POSITIVE DEVELOPMENT (YCPD) WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1980 AS A VEHICLE FOR THE CULTURAL ENRICHMENT AND EDUCATION FOR AGES 4 -17 YEARS. THE YCPD BEGAN AS THE YOUTH COMPONENT OF THE ORGANIZATION FOR BLACK STRUGGLE (OBS). THE MISSION IS TP PROVIDE ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT AND POSITIVE SOCIALIZATION IN A CULTURALLY SENSITIVE AND SAFE ENVIRONMENT. THE INTENT IS TO DEVELOP YOUTH WHO ARE CRITICAL THINKERS WHO WILL BE ENGAGED IN THE POSITIVE WELL-BEING OF THEIR COMMUNITY. OUR PROGRAMS ARE BASED ON MA'AT VALUES AND THE NGUZO SABA KWANZAA PRINCIPLES.
