KANSAS CITY COMMUNITY KITCHEN (KCCK) PROVIDES MIDDAY MEALS MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY WEEKLY, INCLUDING HOLIDAYS. IN 2021, KCCK SERVED 147,349 MEALS WITH 3.5 PAID STAFF AND 1,080 VOLUNTEERS THAT CONTRIBUTED 11,128 VOLUNTEER HOURS.
THE NOURISHKC FOOD RESCUE PROGRAM RECOVERED 391,042 POUNDS OF USABLE FOOD IN 2021 FROM GROCERY STORES, RESTAURANTS, WHOLESALERS, COMMUNITY GARDENS AND OTHER SOURCES. NOURISHKC EMPLOYED ONE FULL-TIME FOOD RESCUE DRIVER AND INITIATED VOLUNTEER PICK-UP OPPORTUNITIES. VOLUNTEERS PROVIDED 396 FOOD RESCUE HOURS IN 2021.
THE NOURISHKC CULINARY TRAINGING PROGRAM IS A 10-WEEK, INTENSIVE, ENTRY-LEVEL PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES INSTRUCTION IN BASIC CULINARY SKILLS AND JOB READINESS SKILLS AS WELL AS HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE IN THE FOOD SERVICE INDUSTRY. DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, NOURISHKC HAD 3 CLASSES OF 16 STUDENTS IN 2021.
