OZARK REGIONAL LAND TRUST'S MISSION IS TO EMPOWER PEOPLE TO PROTECT THE NATURAL RESOURCES OF THE OZARKS FOREVER. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH VARIOUS METHODS INCLUDING CONSERVATION EASEMENTS AND NATURE PRESERVES.

LAND PROTECTION - THESE PROJECTS CONFER A PUBLIC BENEFIT BY MAINTAINING SCENIC VIEWSHEDS, PRESERVING WATERSHED FUNCTIONS AND GOOD WATER QUALITY, AND PROTECTING WILDLIFE HABITAT FOR THREATENED AND ENDANGERED SPECIES. ALSO GROUPED WITHIN THIS PROGRAM ARE OUTREACH ACTIVITIES TO INFORM THE PUBLIC ABOUT LAND CONSERVATION OPTIONS AND THEIR IMPORTANCE.
LAND STEWARDSHIP - ORLT STEWARDS AND MANAGES LAND AND CONSERVATION EASEMENTS TO ENSURE THAT CONSERVATION VALUES ARE PROTECTED. EACH CONSERVATION EASEMENT PROPERTY IS VISITED ANNUALLY BY PROJECT STAFF AND A REPORT IS SUBSEQUENTLY PREPARED TO DOCUMENT THE CONDITION OF THE PROPERTY AT THE TIME OF THE VISIT. PROJECT STAFF ALSO MAKE AN EFFORT TO MEET WITH THE LANDOWNERS OF CONSERVATION EASEMENT PROPERTIES WHENEVER POSSIBLE. FOR PROPERTIES OWNED OUTRIGHT, ORLT VISITS THEM ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE TO ENSURE THAT THERE ARE NO INCURSIONS AND TO PERFORM ECOLOGICAL MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES. FOR THE LARGEST SINGLE LANDHOLDER, ALFORD FOREST, ORLT MAKES GRANTS TO A RELATED NON- PROFIT ENTITY THAT MANAGES THE FOREST.
