HEALTH AND WELFARE: MORNINGSTAR OUTREACH PROGRAM INCLUDES BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION AND OUTPATIENT TREATMENT COMPONENTS TO ASSIST AMERICAN INDIAN INDIVIDUALS AND THEIR FAMILIES WITH A PLAN FOR RECOVERY FROM SUBSTANCE ABUSE, MAINTAIN THEIR RECOVERY FROM SUBSTANCE ABUSE, AND ASSIST LIVING FREE OF CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY. ADDITIONALLY, THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES SERVICES TO PREVENT, PREPARE FOR AND RESPOND TO COVID-19. THIS PROGRAM RECEIVES FEDERAL FUNDING FROM INDIAN HEALTH SERVICES FOR SERVICES TO ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUALS.


CULTURAL ACTIVITIES: THE CENTER HOSTS VARIOUS EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURE AND TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO NATIVE AMERICANS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY.PROVIDED COVID RELIEF ASSISTANCE TO NATIVE AMERICANS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY.FEDERAL PRISON SPIRITUAL GUIDANCE: THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES NATIVE AMERICAN INMATES AT THE UNITED STATES PENITENTIARY IN LEAVENWORTH, KS, WITH REASONABLE AND EQUITABLE OPPORTUNITIES TO PURSUE RELIGIOUS BELIEFS AND PRACTICES THROUGH A SPIRITUAL GUIDE. THESE SERVICES INCORPORATE CONGREGATION, PRAYER, STUDIES AND INSTRUCTION.


FOOD PANTRY: THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES A FOOD PANTRY FOR LOCAL MISSOURI RESIDENTS, NATIVE AND NON-NATIVE, AND FOR KANSAS NATIVE AMERICANS WITH INCOMES WITHIN POVERTY GUIDELINES. PANTRY COSTS INCURRRED IN SERVICE TO LOW-INCOME NATIVE AMERICANS IN KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI GEOGRAPHIC AREA ARE REIMBURSED BY A COMMUNITY SERVICES BLOCK GRANT FROM THE STATE OF MISSOURI.


CIVIC AND VOTER ENGAGEMENT: THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES RESOURCES AND EDUCATION FOR CIVIC AND VOTER ENGAGEMENT, INCLUDING FACILITATING VOTER REGISTRATION AND GET OUT THE VOTE (GOTV) ACTIVITIES.
