INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEANUP DAY DURING OUR ANNUAL EVENT, INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEANUP DAY, HELD IN 2018 ON SEPTEMBER 16TH, WHERE WE ORGANIZE MIAMI-DADES LOCAL PARTICIPATION IN THE WORLDS LARGEST SERVICE DAY FOR OUR BEACHES AND OCEANS, WE HOSTED 45 SIMULTANEOUS CLEANUP EVENTS ALL ACROSS MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, WHICH WERE COLLECTIVELY ATTENDED BY 2,964 VOLUNTEERS WHO REMOVED 13,500 POUNDS OF MARINE DEBRIS IN ONE DAY. CORPORATE DAYS OF SERVICE IN 2018, WE LED 18 COMPANIES (COMBINATION OF LOCAL COMPANIES AND THOSE VISITING MIAMI AS PART OF ANNUAL MEETINGS OR STRATEGIC SUMMITS) ON OUR SIGNATURE CORPORATE DAY OF SERVICE TEAM BUILDING SHORELINE CLEANUP, WITH RAVE REVIEWS, FEEDBACK AND IMPACT. A LEADING OIL AND GAS COMPANY SAID OUR PROGRAM WAS SO EYE OPENING, THAT SHOULD BE REQUIRED CURRICULUM FOR ANYONE WORKING IN THE PLASTICS MANUFACTURING BUSINESS, AND THE KNIGHT FOUNDATION, UPON LEARNING THE REALITY OF MARINE DEBRIS ON BISCAYNE BAY ISLANDS FROM THE KAYAKING CLEANUP WE TOOK THEM ON, IMMEDIATELY WENT BACK TO THEIR OFFICE AND IMPLEMENTED WASTE-REDUCTION AND PLASTIC-FREE INITIATIVES IN THEIR OFFICE. OTHER VOLUNTEERS HAVE TOLD US OF SPECIFIC BEHAVIOR CHANGES (LIKE GIVING UP PLASTIC STRAWS) THEY HAVE MADE IN THEIR LIVES, AS THE RESULT OF PARTICIPATING IN OUR CLEANUPS.
