THE ORGANIZATION EDUCATES AND INFORMS THE PUBLIC OF THE THREATS TO THE APALACHICOLA RIVER AND BAY IN NORTH FLORIDA AS WELL AS PROVIDES ACTUAL HANDS ON GRANT AND DIRECT SUPPORT OF STUDIES AND EFFORTS TO PROTECT THE RIVER. IT IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH MEMBERSHIP, FUND RAISERS, DIRECT GRANTS AND OTHER PUBLIC SUPPORT. THE ORGANIZATION HAS BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL IN EFFORTS TO STOP DREDGING OF THE RIVER AS WELL AS REPRESENTING VARIOUS INTERESTS IN THE USES OF UPSTREAM WATER.
