THE REFUGEE & IMMIGRANT SERVICES (RIS) PROVIDES REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT AND CASE MANAGEMENT AND ASSISTANCE IN NAVIGATING COMMUNITY RESOURCES, SUCH AS HEALTHCARE, PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, LEGAL SERVICES, THE SCHOOL SYSTEM, AND SOCIAL SERVICES. THE RIS EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM INCLUDES EMPLOYMENT-READINESS CLASSES, INDIVIDUAL JOB-SEEKING ASSISTANCE, TRANSPORTATION, PARTNERSHIPS WITH LOCAL EMPLOYERS TO CONNECT REFUGEE AND IMMIGRANT JOB SEEKERS WITH PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYERS AS WELL AS AN IN-HOME CHILD CARE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING PROGRAM. IN FISCAL YEAR 2022 A TOTAL OF 650 REFUGEES AND IMMIGRANTS WERE SERVED THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS.
EDUCATION SERVICES PROVIDES FREE ONE-ON-ONE TUTORING TO ADULT LEARNERS IN ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE, BASIC MATH AND LITERACY SKILLS, COMPUTERS, AND U.S. CITIZENSHIP EXAM PREPARATION. OVER 381 VOLUNTEERS, TRAINED & GUIDED BY A TEAM OF PROFESSIONAL STAFF, PROVIDE THE MAJORITY OF DIRECT INSTRUCTION. FY22 SAW 419 STUDENTS WORKING ONLINE AND IN PERSON. IN FISCAL YEAR 2022, 419 LEARNERS REPRESENTING 49 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES DEDICATED MORE THAN 9660 HOURS OF STUDY AT CMC. THE PROGRAM PRIMARILY SERVES LOW- TO MODERATE-INCOME FAMILIES WHO ARE WORKING TO IMPROVE THEIR DAILY LIFE COMMUNICATION SKILLS, IMPROVE EMPLOYMENT, SUPPORT THEIR FAMILIES, AND ACHIEVE FINANCIAL STABILITY.
WOMEN'S SERVICES PROVIDES FEMALE-RESPONSIVE, TRAUMA-INFORMED CASE MANAGEMENT, SKILL-BUILDING EDUCATION, AND A WIDE RANGE OF INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO WOMEN THAT ARE SERVED THROUGH CMC-BASED RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS AND GRADUATES OF SERVICES LIVING IN THE COMMUNITY. THE TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM SERVES UNACCOMPANIED WOMEN OVER THE AGE OF 18 WHO ARE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS, ARE AT RISK OF HOMELESSNESS, OR ARE EXPERIENCING OTHER SIGNIFICANT CRISES. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES SAFE HOUSING FOR 16 WOMEN AS THEY WORK TO OVERCOME BARRIERS TO LONG-TERM STABILITY AND TO WORK ON THEIR INDIVIDUAL GOALS. THE SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM SERVES GRADUATES OF CMC'S TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM THAT ARE NEEDING LONGER-TERM SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO SUSTAIN PERMANENT HOUSING. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES SAFE, AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR 6 WOMEN. AFTERCARE SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE FOR WOMEN THAT HAVE GRADUATED FROM CMC RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMMING AND ARE LIVING IN THE COMMUNITY WITH CASE MANAGEMENT AND SKILL-BUILDING EDUCATION. IN FISCAL YEAR 2022 THE TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM SERVED 37 WOMEN, THE SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM SERVED 8 WOMEN, AND AFTERCARE SERVED 2 WOMEN.
