DISTRIBUTE FOOD TO NEEDY RESIDENTS IN THE AREA OF KOSSUTH COUNTY, IOWA.

WE ARE A TRADITIONAL COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY. WE RAISE FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF FOOD STAPLES TO DISTRIBUTE TO THE NEEDY IN OUR AREA. IN ADDITIONAL, WE ACCEPT IN KIND CONTRIBUTIONS OF FOOD FOR DISTRIBUTION TO THE NEEDY. WE MAINTAIN A FACILITY SOLELY FOR THE PURPOSE OF ACCEPTING DONATIONS AND STORING AND DISTRIBUTING FOOD. ALL LABOR IS PERFORMED BY VOLUNTEERS AND WE HAVE NO LABOR EXPENSES. EXCESS FUNDS, IF ANY, ARE INVESTED IN INTEREST-BEARING INSTRUMENTS TO CREATE A RESERVE FOR PURCHASING FOOD IN TIMES OF REDUCED CONTRIBUTIONS OR INCREASED NEEDS. MOST CONTRIBUTIONS ARE SMALL AMOUNTS FROM AREA CHURCH OFFERINGS AND BUSINESSES, PLUS SOME LIMITED SUPPORT FROM LOCAL GOVERNMENTS. IN 2017, WE PROVIDED NUTRITIONAL ASSISTANCE TO OVER 5,500 PEOPLE ACCROSS NORTHWEST IOWA.
