TO SERVE THE IOWA FIREFIGHTERS BY PROVIDING THEM WITH INFORMATION AND SERVICES AVAILABLE FOR FIRE PREVENTION AND SAFETY, FIREFIGHTER TRAINING, LEGAL ASSISTANCE, KEEP THE LEGISLATURE INFORMED TO HELP SECURE THE BEST FIRE SERVICE LAWS AND CODES FOR ITS MEMBERS AND PROVIDE A 500 DEATH BENEFIT.

UPON THE DEATH OF A FIREFIGHTER THEIR FAMILY IS PAID 500 AS AN EXPRESSION OF THE ASSOCIATION'S SYMPATHY TO A FIREFIGHTER'S FAMILY.


INFORMATION IS PREPARED AND MAILED TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION-- 13,000 MEMBERS IN 630 FIRE DEPARTMENTS. ADDITIONALLY INFORMATION IS MAILED TO GOVERNMENT LEADERS TO KEEP THEM INFORMED ABOUT ANY LAWS, CODES, FIRE SAFTEY ISSUES, AND FIREFIGHTER TRAINING. FIRE PREVENTION AND EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS ARE PRESENTED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AT THE STATE FAIR, CLASS ROOM VISITS, AND THROUGH MEMBER'S LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENTS. SEE SCH O FOR ADDITIONAL DETAILS.
