AN ASSOCIATION OF LIBRARY SUPPORTERS, RESPRESENTING ALL TYPES OF LIBRARIES BY HELPING THEM ACCOMPLISH TOGETHER WHAT NONE CAN DO ALONE. MLA SERVES THE INTERESTS OF ITS MEMBERS BY FACILITATING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES, SUPPORTING ETHICAL STANDARD, LEGISLATIVE ASSESTANCE AND FOSTERING CONNECTIONS.

PROVIDED CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS THROUGH EVENTS AND CONFERENCES. HOSTED A STATE-WIDE CONFERENCE AND A HANDFUL OF SMALLER EVENTS DURING THE YEAR, INVOLVING APPROXIMATELY 930 PARTICIPANTS.
THE ORGANIZATION WAS ENGAGED IN LEGISLATIVE EFFORTS TO SECURE FUNDING TO PROVIDE QUALITY LIBRARY SERVICES FOR ALL MINNESOTA CITIZENS; ADVOCATED FOR INELLECTUAL FREEDOM AND OPPOSED LIBRARY CENSORSHIP; AND EDUCATED LIBRARY ADVOCATES AND ELECTED OFFICIALS ABOUT COMMUNITY CENTERS AND DESTINATION POINTS.
