IN 2020 & 2021, ISLAMIC RESOURCE GROUP (IRG) EXPANDED ITS VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING TO MEET THE CHALLENGES OF COVID RESTRICTIONS. IN LIEU OF IN- PERSON PRESENTATIONS, IRG CONDUCTED VIRTUAL PRESENTATIONS TO SCHOOLS ACROSS MINNESOTA AND THE UPPER MIDWEST. IRG UTILIZED THIS OPPORTUNITY TO EXPAND ITS REACH TO MORE SCHOOLS ACROSS A BROADER GEOGRAPHIC AREA COMPARED TO PREVIOUS YEARS.
IRG COLLABORATED WITH REPRESENTATIVES FROM OTHER FAITH COMMUNITIES IN MINNESOTA TO PROVIDE EXPANDED INTERFAITH EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES. IRG CONDUCTED SERIAL EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS WITH JEWISH, CHRISTIAN, BUDDHIST, AND HINDU SPEAKERS IN ADDITION TO MULTI-FAITH PANELS. EDUCATION IS A PROVEN METHOD TO REDUCE ISLAMAPHOBIA AND OTHER FORMS OF RELIGIOUS AND RACIAL BIAS. THROUGH COLLABORATIVE EDUCATIONAL EFFORTS WITH OTHER FAITH COMMUNITIES, IRG IS DEMONSTRATING AND MODELING THE VALUE OF INTERFAITH DIALOGUE AND COOPERATION.
IRG PROVIDED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES TO EDUCATORS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT IN MINNESOTA THROUGH VIRTUAL MEANS DURING COVID RESTRICTIONS. IN A TIME OF INCREASING AWARENESS OF THE VALUE OF CULTURAL DIVERSITY AND RELIGIOUS DIVERSITY, IRG IS THE TRUSTED GO-TO RESOURCE FOR INFORMATION ABOUT ISLAM AND MUSLIM CULTURES. IN ADDITION, SUPPORTING CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES WAS A MAJOR FOCUS OF IRG EFFORTS DURING 2021. WITH INCREASED PRESSUE ON CORRECTIONAL STAFF UNDER COVID, IRG PROVIDED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, DONATED MUSLIM RELIGIOUS ITEMS, AND CONSULATATION TO JAIL, PRISON AND OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT STAFF.
