MINNESOTA CAMPUS COMPACT SUPPORTS CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND DEMOCRATIC RENEWAL THROUGH ITS DIVERSE NETWORK OF COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES.

"CIVIC LEADERSHIP INITIATIVES"IN PARTNERSHIP WITH IOWA CAMPUS COMPACT (IACC), HELD ONLINE CIVIC ACTION ACADEMY AND SOCIAL CHANGEMAKER CHALLENGE THAT DREW OVER 100 PARTICIPANTS. MNCC COHOSTED THE 2020 IOWA STUDENT VOTER SUMMIT AND PLACED 30 CAMPUS ELECTION ENGAGEMENT PROJECT (CEEP) STUDENT FELLOWS ACROSS BOTH MINNESOTA AND IOWA. "AMERICORPS PROGRAM"THE IOWA & MINNESOTA CAMPUS COMPACT VISTA COMMUNITY CORPS STRIVES TO ELIMINATE POVERTY THROUGH CAMPUS-COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS BY PLACING FULL-TIME CAPACITY BUILDING SUPPORT IN NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS. AS OF SPRING 2021, IAMNCC VISTA PROJECTS SERVED MORE THAN 5,000 INDIVIDUALS AND GENERATED NEARLY $200,000 IN CASH AND IN-KIND RESOURCES. THE RANGE OF PROJECTS CARRIED OUT BY IAMNCC VISTA MEMBERS INCLUDE BUILDING THE CAPACITY OF ORGANIZATIONS AND COMMUNITIES TO ADVANCE EQUITY AND INCLUSION, DEVELOP ON-CAMPUS RESOURCES THAT SUPPORT STUDENTS' BASIC NEEDS, AND IMPROVE PUBLIC HEALTH INITIATIVES THROUGH COMMUNITY-ENGAGED RESEARCH. IN 2021, THERE WERE 17 VISTA MEMBERS AND TWO VISTA LEADERS SERVING 15 SITES ACROSS IOWA AND MINNESOTA. IN THE NEXT PROGRAM YEAR IAMNCC ANTICIPATES THAT THE NUMBER OF VISTA MEMBERS WILL BE CLOSER TO 30. THIS GRANT WAS NOT HELD BY MNCC IN 2021, BUT IN SPRING OF 2022, THE VISTA GRANT WILL MOVE FROM IOWA CAMPUS COMPACT TO MINNESOTA CAMPUS COMPACT. "GRANTS PROGRAM"MNCC, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH HAMLINE UNIVERSITY, AUGSBURG UNIVERSITY, AND ST. CATHERINE UNIVERSITY, WAS AWARDED A USDA NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR FOOD AND AGRICULTURE COMMUNITY FOOD PROJECT PLANNIG GRANT TO ADDRESS STUDENT FOOD INSECURITY AND PROMOTE FOOD JUSTICE IN/WITH COMMUNITY FOOD ECOSYSTEMS. "RECOGNITION PROGRAM" -THIRTY-TWO CAMPUSES PARTICIPATED IN THE PRESIDENTS' ENGAGED CAMPUS AWARDS THIS YEAR. OVER 90 INDIVIDUALS WERE RECOGNIZED FOR EXTRAORDINARY CIVIC AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT LEADERSHIP AMONG STUDENTS, FACULTY, STAFF, AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS FROM BOTH IOWA AND MINNESOTA.
