THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES TO VARIOUS DEMOGRAPHICS WITHIN THE GREATER DES MOINES AREA. THIS INCLUDES LEADERSHIP SKILLS TO EQUIP VARIOUS NONPROFIT, CIVIC AND GOVERNMENTAL BOARD VOLUNTEERS, WITH THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF IMPROVING THE COMMUNITY.

GREATER DES MOINES LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE: THE GREATER DES MOINES LEADERSHIP INSITUTE PREPARES LEADERS FROM ACROSS CENTRAL IOWA TO BE EFFECTIVE STEWARDS FOR OUR COMMUNITY'S FUTURE. THE NINE-MONTH CURRICULUM OFFERS A VIEW OF GREATER DES MOINES FROM DIFFERENT VANTAGE POINTS, HEIGHTENS PARTICIPANT AWARENESS OF CURRENT COMMUNITY CONDITIONS AND ISSUES, ENHANCES INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP LEADERSHIP SKILLS, AND HELPS CLASS MEMBERS SEE THEMSELVES AS PARTNERS FOR CHANGE.


YOUTH LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE: THE YOUTH LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE (YLI) RELEASES UNTAPPED POTENTIAL IN THE NEXT GENERATION OF COMMUNITY LEADERS. THIS UNTAPPED POTENTIAL IS RELEASED AS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS LEARN SKILLS THAT PROPEL THEM INTO THEIR NEXT STEPS OF LIFE AND AS THEY EMBRACE THEIR ROLES AS SHAPERS OF A COMMUNITY WHERE THEIR DREAMS CAN BE REALIZED.


COMMUNITY CONNECT: COMMUNITY CONNECT INSPIRES AND TEACHES PARTICIPANTS THAT LEVERAGING THEIR PURPOSE IMPROVES THEIR LIVES AND OUR COMMUNITY. THE PROGRAM HAS TWO KEY OBJECTIVES. 1) TO PROVIDE A CURRICULUM THAT HELPS PARTICIPANTS UNCOVER AND LEVERAGE THEIR PERSONAL VALUES AND PURPOSE, LEADING TO GOAL SETTING FOR INTENTIONAL ENGAGEMENT IN THE COMMUNITY. 2) TO CONNECT PARTICIPANTS WITH EXPERIENCED COMMUNITY LEADERS, SO THEY MAY LEARN AND BENEFIT FROM THE MENTORS' WISDOM AND NETWORKS.
