Part 3 - Line 4a
THE PROFESSIONAL STUDENT GOVERNMENT (PSG) IS A MULTILATERAL ORGANIZATION THAT ACTS AS A RESOURCE FOR ITS MEMBER COUNCILS, A CENTRAL CONTACT FOR UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATORS, AND A CRUCIAL NEXUS OF INTERDISCIPLINARY COMMUNICATION AMONG STUDENTS. THE GOALS OF PSG ARE TO SUPPORT ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE, ADVOCATE ON BEHALF OF PROFESSIONAL STUDENTS, CREATE AN INTERDISCIPLINARY COMMUNITY AND PROVIDE GRANTS TO STUDENTS. POLICY ITEMS WERE PURSUED AT VARIOUS ADMINISTRATIVE LEVELS. PSG DISTRIBUTES A LARGE PORTION OF ITS FUNDS AS GRANTS. HUNDREDS OF GRANTS ARE DISTRIBUTED TO STUDENTS AND ORGANIZATIONS. THESE GRANTS INCLUDE ACADEMIC INITIATIVE GRANTS, SOCIAL EVENTS GRANTS, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANTS, AND INTER-COUNCIL EVENT GRANTS. WE ORCHESTRATED SEVERAL EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, INCLUDING A STUDENT TRIP TO WATCH A TWINS GAME, OF WHICH 468 TICKETS WERE SOLD. SOME OF OUR POLICY-THEMED ITEMS INCLUDED WORK ON IMPROVING THE UNIVERSITY VOTING SYSTEM, ENCOURAGING CONVERSATIONS ABOUT DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION, REEVALUATING STUDENT INFORMATION PRIVACY, ENCOURAGING CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF UNIVERSITY SUPPLIERS, AND MORE. MUCH OF THE YEAR WAS ALSO FOCUSED ON FOSTERING FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY FOR MEMBER COUNCILS. IN ADDITION, WE CONTINUE TO IMPROVE COLLABORATION BETWEEN OTHER STUDENT GOVERNMENTS ON CAMPUS. PROGRESS FOR THESE TWO INITIATIVES HAS BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL.
