TO PROMOTE AND FOSTER A KNOWLEDGE OF ART BY PROVIDING FACILITIES FOR EXHIBITIONS AND PROGRAMS TO IMPROVE EDUCATION IN THE ARTS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
IN FISCAL YEAR 2021, PLAINS ART MUSEUM ENGAGED OVER 28,800 PEOPLE THROUGH OUR MISSION OF CONNECTING ART, ARTISTS AND AUDIENCES TO FOSTER CREATIVE, RESILIENT, AND WELCOMING COMMUNITIES. THROUGH OUR PLAINSART4ALL INITIATIVE, THE MUSEUM OFFERED FREE GENERAL ADMISSION TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO ALMOST 30 TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS. IN ADDITION, THE MUSEUM FACILITATED OVER 200 EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES FOR ALL AGES - TOURS, WORKSHOPS, TALKS, AND MORE; AND FACILITATED NEW COMMUNITY PROGRAMS, OUTREACH EVENTS, AND OUR EXEMPLARY BUZZ LAB TEEN INTERNSHIP PROGRAM. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR, VARIOUS PROGRAMS WERE PUT ON HOLD AND SOME MODIFICATIONS WERE MADE TO DELIVERY DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. THE ORGANIZATION PLANS TO RESUME ACTIVITIES IN A SOCIALLY DISTANCED AND LIMITED CAPACITY IN FISCAL YEAR 2022.
IN-HOUSE EDUCATION PROGRAMS INCLUDE DOCENT-LED TOURS, LECTURES, ARTIST TALKS, CURATOR-LED GALLERY TALKS, INTERNSHIPS, ART CAMPS AND ART CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS. OUTREACH PROGRAMS WERE ALSO OFFERED WHICH BROUGHT ORIGINAL ART EXHIBITIONS AND ART EDUCATION PROGRAMS TO RURAL MINNESOTA AND NORTH DAKOTA. THE WORKSHOPS AND CLASSES HAD TO BE VIRTUAL THIS YEAR DUE TO COVID.
MUSEUM BUILDING OPERATIONS FOR STORAGE AND DISPLAY OF THE PERMANENT COLLECTION WHICH FOCUSES ON 20TH AND 21ST CENTURY AMERICAN ART, REGIONAL ART, AND WORK BY NATIVE AMERICAN ARTISTS.
