VETERANS SERVICES:AS VETERANS OF THE WARS OF THE 20TH CENTURY AGE, THEY REQUIRE MORE SERVICES AND MEDICAL ATTENTION THAN EVER. PROVIDING FREE, PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANCE TO VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES IN OBTAINING BENEFITS AND SERVICES EARNED THROUGH MILITARY SERVICE AND PROVIDED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS (VA) AND OTHER AGENCIES OF GOVERNMENT. REPRESENTING THE INTERESTS OF DISABLED VETERANS, THEIR FAMILIES, THEIR WIDOWED SPOUSES AND THEIR ORPHANS BEFORE CONGRESS, THE WHITE HOUSE AND THE JUDICIAL BRANCH, AS WELL AS STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT. THESE SERVICES INCLUDE DISABLED VETERANS PARTICIPATING THE RECREATIONAL THERAPY OPPORTUNITIES, CONNECTING DISABLED VETERANS WITH DONATED MEDICAL EQUIPMENT. THE DAV MN DEVELOPS FINANCIAL RESOURCES FOR THE ASSISTANCE, AID, MAINTENANCE, CARE, SUPPORT AND REHABILITATION OF SICK AND INJURED VETERANS AND THEIR DEPENDENTS, EITHER DIRECTLY OR BY CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE SERVICE PROGRAMS OFFERED THROUGH OTHER NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS.
TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM:ONE OF THE KEY DELIVERABLES THAT DAV PROVIDES NATIONALLY IS TRANSPORTATION. EACH DAY, A CADRE OF VOLUNTEERS DRIVE VETERANS FROM THEIR HOME TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS AT NO COST TO THE VETERAN.
DSO:DEPARTMENT SERVICE OFFICERS ARE STAFF MEMBERS WHO ASSIST DISABLED VETERANS WITH THEIR CLAIMS. AS SERVICEMEMBERS WHO HAVE BEEN DISABLED IN OUR NATION'S DEFENSE THEMSELVES, OUR DSO'S HAVE HAD SPECIAL TRAINING TO ALLOW THEM TO ASSIST VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THIS FREE SERVICE HAS HELPED THOUSANDS OF VETERANS APPLY FOR VA DISABILITY COMPENSATION, EDUCATION PROGRAMS, DEATH BENEFITS, REHABILITATION PROGRAMS, PENSIONS, AND EMPLOYMENT TRAINING PROGRAMS.
