TO PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY PROGRAMMING AND SOCIAL SERVICES THAT FACILITATE THE GROWTH OF A DIVERSE, RESPONSIBLE, AND WELCOMING COMMUNITY.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
FACILITY USE - NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE COMMUNITY CENTER SERVES AS A COMMUNITY MEETING PLACE FOR OVER 35 COMMUNITY GROUPS AND ASSOCIATIONS EACH YEAR. THE CENTER OFFERS VARIOUS MEETING ROOMS AND A GYM SPACE TO THE PUBLIC FOR NOMINAL FEES TO HELP OFFSET COSTS. EACH YEAR, OVER 3,000 PEOPLE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE FACILITY.
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS - NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE COMMUNITY CENTER PROVIDES MANY PROGRAMS AND SERVICES YEAR ROUND FOR THE COMMUNITY. THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDE AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING, MENTORING, AND ENRICHMENT FOR ELEMENTARY TO HIGH SCHOOL YOUTHS, OLDER ADULT WELLNESS AND ENRICHMENT, COMMUNITY EVENTS, MEAL NIGHTS, YOGA CLASSES, LANGUAGE CLASSES, AND SPEAKER SERIES. NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE'S ESSENTIAL SERVICES INCLUDE A FOOD PANTRY, MONTHLY MEALS, TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE, COMPUTER LAB, AND SEASONAL DRIVES. EACH YEAR, OVER 2,000 PEOPLE PARTICIPATE.
SUMMER DAY CAMP - EACH SUMMER NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE COMMUNITY CENTER PROVIDES AN 8-WEEK SUMMER DAY CAMP FOR CHILDREN AGES 6 TO 12. THE CAMP PROVIDES SAFE AND HIGH QUALITY ACTIVITIES FOR YOUTH, INCLUDING SWIM LESSONS, ENRICHMENT, GAMES, ARTS, COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT, AND SERVICE PROJECTS. THE CAMP IS FREE FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS. 80% OF PARTICIPANTS COME FROM LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS AND ARE PEOPLE OF COLOR. NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE ALSO PROVIDES FREE SUMMER ENRICHMENT FOR YOUTH IN HIGH SCHOOL.
