BY TARGETING SPECIFIC GOALS AND FORGING STRONG PARTNERSHIPS, UNITED WAY OF DANE COUNTY IS TACKLING THE ROOT CAUSES OF CRITICAL LOCAL ISSUES AND ACHIEVING REAL, MEASURABLE RESULTS FOR CHILDREN & EDUCATION, HOUSING FOR STRUGGLING FAMILIES, INDEPENDENCE FOR SENIORS AND MORE.

EARNINGS FROM THE FOUNDATION ARE INVESTED IN THE STRATEGIES THAT SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY'S AGENDA FOR CHANGE - SINCE ITS CREATION, WE HAVE WORKED WITH DELEGATIONS, PARTNERS, & COMMUNITY SOLUTIONS TEAMS TO CREATE MOBILIZATION PLANS, IDENTIFY RESEARCH-BASED STRATEGIES TO ASSESS, REDUCE AND ELIMINATE THE UNDERLYING CAUSES OF THOSE ISSUES AND ULTIMATELY BRING MEASURABLE RESULTS. THE SEVEN AREAS OF THE AGENDA FOR CHANGE ARE: EDUCATION - STUDENTS SUCCEED ACADEMICALLY AND GRADUATE FROM HIGH SCHOOL, PREPARED FOR HIGHER EDUCATION, CAREER, AND COMMUNITY; CHILDREN - CHILDREN ARE CARED FOR AND HAVE FUN AS THEY BECOME PREPARED FOR SCHOOL; HEALTH - PEOPLE WHO ARE UNINSURED HAVE ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE; HOUSING - THERE IS A DECREASE IN HOMELESSNESS; INDEPENDENCE - SENIORS AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES ARE ABLE TO STAY IN THEIR HOMES; BUILDING ECONOMIC STABILITY- MOVE MORE PEOPLE ARE ON PATHWAYS OUT OF POVERTY; COMMUNITY AND VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT - AGENCIES AND VOLUNTEERS ARE STRONG PARTNERS IN ACHIEVING MEASURABLE RESULTS. EACH AREA HAS PRIMARY, MEASURABLE GOALS AND ANTECEDENT METRICS THAT ARE BASED IN BEST PRACTICES.
