TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE/TRAINING:INCLUDES SEXUAL ASSAULT CENTERS, LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES, PROSECUTORS, S.A.N.E. NURSES, AND OTHER COMMUNITY PROFESSIONALS WHO WORK WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN SEXUALLY ASSAULTED.
RAPE PREVENTION EDUCATION:THE PREVENTION OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE REQUIRES A COMPREHENSIVE, COMMUNITY-WIDE APPROACH. WHEN WE SPEAK OF PREVENTION, WE ARE NOT TALKING JUST ABOUT STOPPING SOMEONE FROM DOING SOMETHING IN THE MOMENT, BUT ABOUT CHANGING THE CULTURAL PERSPECTIVE AND THOUGHT PROCESS SO THAT VIOLENT BEHAVIORS ARE NOT EVEN SEEN AS AN OPTION.THE ORGANIZATION'S PROGRAM WORKS TO IMPLEMENT A SPECTRUM OF PREVENTION:STRENGTHENING INDIVIDUAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS, ENHANCING AN INDIVIDUAL'S CAPABILITY OF PREVENTING INJURY OR ILLNESS AND PROMOTING SAFETY; PROMOTING COMMUNITY EDUCATION, REACHING GROUPS OF PEOPLE WITH INFORMATION AND RESOURCES TO PROMOTE HEALTH AND SAFETY; EDUCATING PROVIDERS, INFORMING PROVIDERS WHO WILL TRANSMIT SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE TO OTHERS; FOSTERING COALITIONS AND NETWORKS, CONVENING GROUPS AND INDIVIDUALS FOR BROADER GOALS AND GREATER IMPACT; CHANGING ORGANIZATIONAL PRACTICES, ADOPTING REGULATIONS AND SHAPING NORMS TO IMPROVE HEALTH AND SAFETY; AND INFLUENCING POLICY AND LEGISLATION, DEVELOPING STRATEGIES TO CHANGE LAWS AND POLICIES TO INFLUENCE OUTCOMES.
SEXUAL ASSAULT PREVENTION:IN COLLABORATION WITH DHS AND DPH, PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND TRAINING TO REDUCE OR ELIMINATE BARRIERS FOR SURVIVORS AND TO PREVENT SEXUAL VIOLENCE. EFFORTS FOCUS ON SPECIFIC POPULATIONS, WHO FACE DISPROPORTIONATE IMPACT AND/OR UNIQUE BARRIERS TO ACCESSING SERVICES, INCLUDING: COMMUNITIES OF COLOR; LGBTQ COMMUNITIES; NATIVE AMERICANS; MALES; TEENS. STRATEGIES TO EXPAND USE OF CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE SERVICES TO ENSURE INCLUSION OF DIVERSE POPULATIONS IN SERVICES AND PREVENTION ARE DEVELOPED AND PROMOTED.
