THE ADULT DEVELOPMENT CENTER IS A COMMUNITY BASED NOT FOR PROFIT AGENCY. WE PROVIDE SERVICES WITHOUT REGARDS TO RACE, COLOR, SEX, OR RELIGION TO DISABLED CITIZENS. WE BELEIVE THAT EACH INDIVIDUAL IS CAPABLE OF CHANGE, LEARNING, GROWING, AND MATURING, REGARDLESS OF DISABILITY OR CHALLENGE. OUR MISSION IS TO BE MENTORS FOR DISABLED ADULTS, TEACHING LIFE SKILLS AND TO PROVIDE THEM WITH MEANINGFUL EMPLOYMENT. WE BELEIVE ALL INDIVIDUALS HAVE A PURPOSE IN LIFE TO LEARN, TO GROW AND TO REACH THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF INDEPENDENCE POSSIBLE.

THE INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS ASSESSMENT SERVICES ASSISTS IN IDENTIFYING AN INDIVIDUAL'S STRENGTHS AND LIMITATIONS/NEEDS AS THEY PERTAIN TO THE ABILITY TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY AS POSSIBLE. PERSONS REFERRED FOR AN ILSA WILL WORK IN AN APARTMENT LOCATED AT THE PCADC FOR FOUR DAYS. STAFF PROVIDES: 1:1 SUPERVISION. SOME OF THE AREAS ASSESSED INCLUDED: MENU PLANNING; GROCERY SHOPPING; MEAL PREPARATION; HOUSEHOLD CLEANING; PERSONAL CARE; NUTRITION; HOME SAFETY/EMERGENCY SITUATIONS; BUDGETING AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT; RECREATION/LEISURE; LANDRY SKILLS; ETC. N.E.T.W.O.R.C. (NEW EXPERIENCES THROUGH A WEALTH OF OPPORTUNITY AND RESOURCES IN THE COMMUNITY) IS A GOAL-ORIENTED PROGRAM WHICH INTEGRATES DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED INDIVIDUALS INTO THE COMMUNITY. EACH INDIVIDUAL HAS SPECIFIC GOALS TO WORK ON WITH THEIR ACTIVITY COMPANION. GOAL CAN INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: SOCIALIZATION SKILLS, INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS; NUTRITIONAL AWARENESS; WEIGHT MANAGEMENT; SELF-CONFIDENCE. ETC. TO BECOME PART OF THE NETWORC PROGRAM INDIVIDUALS MUST BE REFERRED TO THE PCADC BY THEIR COUNTY CASE MANAGER OR OTHER THIRD-PARTY PAYEE. THE INDIVIDUAL WILL BE ASSIGNED AN ACTIVITY COMPANION WHO WILL ASSIST THE INDIVIDUAL WITH THEIR GOALS. THE ACTIVITY COMPANION WILL PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION FOR ACTIVITIES. INDIVIDUALS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING FOR THEIR OWN EXPENSES (I.E. MEALS, BOWLING, MOVIE TICKETS, ETC.) WORK ADJUSTMENT IS A SYSTEM OF GOAL DIRECTED SERVICES FOCUSING ON THE ENHANCEMENT/REMEDIATION OF AN INDIVIDUALS EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS. IT PROVIDES TRAINING IN THE MEANING, VALUE AND DEMANDS OF WORK, AS WELL AS THE DEVELOPMENT OF POSITIVE ATTITUDES TOWARD WORK. WORK ADJUSTMENT SERVICES CAN INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: INCREASING PRODUCTIVITY; IMPROVING INTERACTIONS WITH SUPERVISORS AND CO-WORKERS; IMPROVING PUNCTUALITY AND ATTENDANCE AND INCREASING STAMINA AND ENDURANCE. VOCATIONAL EVALUATION SERVICES PROVIDE AND INDIVIDUALIZED, TIMELY AND SYSTEMATIC PROCESS BY WHICH A PERSON WITH A DISABILITY WHO IS SEEKING EMPLOYMENT, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH AN EVALUATOR, LEARNS TO IDENTIFY VIABLE VACATIONAL OPTIONS AND DEVELOP EMPLOYMENT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES. VOCATIONAL EVALUATIONS INCORPORATE DATA TO ASSIST IN THE IDENTIFICATION OF VOCATIONAL AND/OR TRAINING OPTIONS AND THE RESOURCES NEEDED TO MEET THOSE GOALS. THIS INCLUDES MEDICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, EDUCATIONAL, VOCATIONAL AND ECONOMIC DATA. THE POLK COUNTY ADULT DEVELOPMENT CENTER UTILIZES REFERRAL SOURCE INFORMATION, INTERVIEWS WITH CLIENTS, PSYCHOMETRIC TESTING, CAREEER EXPLORATION AND REAL OR SIMULATED WORK TO MEET THE GOALS OF THE VOCATIONAL EVALUATION.
