AFT-WISCONSIN FOSTERS COOPERATIVE ACTION AMONG ITS MEMBERS; PROMOTES AND ASSISTS IN THE ORGANIZATION OF NEW LOCALS; ASSISTS AFFILIATED LOCALS AND MEMBERS OF THE STATE FEDERATION IN OBTAINING THE RIGHTS AND SERVICES TO WHICH THEY ARE ENTITLED, ACHIEVING COMMON PROFESSIONAL GOALS, AND PROMOTING THE GENERAL WELFARE OF NOT ONLY AFT-WISCONSIN MEMBERS BUT ALSO OTHER AFL-CIO MEMBERS STATEWIDE; RAISES THE STANDARDS OF FEDERATION MEMBERS BY SECURING THE WORKING CONDITIONS ESSENTIAL TO PROFESSIONAL JOB PERFORMANCE; IMPROVES EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND PROMOTES DEMOCRATIC PRACTICES IN THE SCHOOLS, WHICH WILL BETTER ENABLE STUDENTS TO TAKE THEIR PLACES IN THE ECONOMIC, SOCIAL, POLITICAL, AND CULTURAL LIFE OF THE COMMUNITY; AND IMPROVES STANDARDS FOR PUBLIC EMPLOYEES BY WORKING FOR THE PASSAGE AND STRENGTHENING OF COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AND CIVIL SERVICE LEGISLATION, PROMOTING CONTINUING EDUCATION, AND SECURING WORKING CONDITIONS CONDUCIVE TO THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF PUBLIC SERVICE.

THE AFT-WISCONSIN SOLIDARITY FUND IS A $0.60 PER MEMBER PER MONTH CONTRIBUTION. THESE CONTRIBUTIONS ARE USED FOR COMMUNICATION WITH MEMBERS REGARDING LEGISLATION AND ELECTORAL INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATING WITH THE PUBLIC IN ADVOCACY OF AFT-WISCONSIN MEMBERSHIP. CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE AFT-WISCONSIN SOLIDARITY FUND MAY NOT BE MADE TO CAMPAIGN OR CANDIDATE COMMITTEES.


THE 2023 CONVENTION IS THE BIENNIAL MEETING OF LOCAL REPRESENTATIVES FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE ELECTION OF OFFICERS, AUTHORIZATION OF THE PROPOSED FEDERATION BUDGET, AND DIRECTING THE ORGANIZATION THROUGH CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS AND RESOLUTIONS.
