THE JEROME BETTIS S.T.E.M.S PROGRAM CREATES BOTH AN ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL IMPERATIVE PROGRAM TO ENSURE YOUTH IN URBAN AREAS ARE EQUIPPED TO ENGAGE IN THE S.T.E.M.S SECTOR AT PARITY WITH THEIR PEERS. ELIMINATING THE BARRIERS FACING INNER CITY YOUTH WHO HAVE THE DESIRE TO ENTER IN TO A S.T.E.M.S PROFESSION THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO HELP THEM MEET THE PROJECTED DEMANDS FOR S.T.E.M.S WORKERS IN OUR FUTURE WORKFORCE, WHILE BROADENING THE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES OF UNDER-REPRESENTED COMMUNITIES.
THE JEROME BETTIS CYBER BUS COMPUTER LITERACY AND EDUCATION PROGRAM PROVIDES A SAFE LEARNING, FUN FILLED ENVIRONMENT FOR UNDER-PRIVILEDGED INNER-CITY YOUTH TO DEVELOP TECHNOLOGY SKILLS THAT WILL BRIDGE THE DIGITAL DIVIDE FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY. THIS COMPUTER PROGRAM REQUIRES PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT AND A COMPUTER IS GIVEN TO EACH YOUTH AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAM. IT IS OUR BELIEF THAT ASSISTING IN YOUTH TO AQUIRE VALUABLE COMPUTER SKILLS WILL ENABLE THEM TO BECOME MORE COMPETITIVE STUDENTS, RECEVING BETTER GRADES, AND OPEN THE DOOR FOR MORE OPPORTUNITIES IN TODAYS WORKFORCE.
THE JEROME BETTIS TOY DRIVE CARING FOR KIDS PROGRAM PROVIDES A SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE ENVIROMENT FOR INNER CITY UNDER-PRIVILEDGE YOUTH WHERE THEY CAN GROW AND DEVELOP AS THOUGHTFUL AN CARING CITIZENS AND BELEIVE THAT THE FIRST STEPS TOWARD SELF-SUFFICIENCY MUST CONSIST OF A STRONG MORAL FOUNDATION. THE FOUNDATION PROMOTES SELF-ESTEEM BUILDING PROGRAMS, BEING RESPONSIBLE, AND HIGHER EDUCATION INIATIVES THAT SUPPORT A LEARNING ENVIRONMENT WHERE EMPLOYABILITY IS ACHIEVED.
