THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES YOUTH AND ADULTS SUBSTANCE USE PREVENTION AND LIFE SKILLS TRAINING FUNDED BY MID-STATE HEALTH NETWORK.


THE ORGANIZATION DEVELOPED A COMMUNITY-BASED DISCOVERY PROCESS WITH SAGINAW COUNTY'S AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY TITLED RACIAL DISPARITIES IN BEHAVIORAL HEALTH FOLLOW-UP CARE. WOMEN OF COLORS SERVED AS THE MICHIGAN HEALTH ENDOWMENT FUND GRANTEE AND THE DESIGNATED COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION FOR THIS PROJECT. IN THIS LEADERSHIP ROLE, THROUGH A COMBINATION OF COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDER FORUMS, SURVEYS, AND FOCUS GROUPS, THE ORGANIZATION REVEALS THE KEY BARRIERS FOR SAGINAW AFRICAN AMERICANS IN BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE ACCESS, CONCERNS ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE OF CARE AND LEVEL OF CARE TRANSITIONS.


THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES THE STUDENTS AND FUTURE TECHNOLOGY (SAFT) PROGRAM TO DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS. THE GOAL OF THE SAFT PROGRAM IS TO HELP STUDENTS LEARN MORE ABOUT TECHNOLOGY.
