THE ORGANIZATION IS A SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH AND SAFETY PROGRAM LED BY STUDENTS WITH VALIDATED PROGRAMMING.

THE ORGANIZATION SPONSORS AND ADMINISTERS EVENTS AND ACTIVIVITIES TO ATTRACT, RETAIN AND GROW OUR SCHOOL-BASED CHAPTERS. ALL OF THESE ACTIVITIES PROMOTE THE SAFE AND HEALTHY LIFE SKILLS NECESSARY FOR TODAY'S YOUTH TO RESIST ALCOHOL, OTHER DRUGS, OTHER SELF-HARM BEHAVIORS AND DEVELOPE EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING SKILLS. THE ORGANIZATION IMPLEMENTS COMPREHENSIVE, UNIVERSAL PREVENTION TO EDUCATE ALL STUDENTS, AND ESPECIALLY THOSE AT HIGH RISK.


TRAINING AND TRAVEL PROGRAMS. THE ORGANIZATION TRAVELS TO SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES THOUGHOUT THE STATE OF MICHIGAN TO TRAIN AND ASSIST SCHOOLS IN THE DEVELOPEMNT OF CHAPTERS, AS WELL AS SUBJECT SPECIFIC TRAINING AND SKILLS SHARED WITH SLS ADVISORS AND CHAPTERS. THE ORGANIZATION BRINGS ENGAGING TRAINING PROGRAMS TO INDIVIDUAL SCHOOLS, REGIONAL NETWORKS AND EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS. THE ORGANIZATION EXPERTISE IS STUDENT-LED EXPERIENCES.


THE ORGANIZATION MAILS YEAR-ROUND PUBLICATIONS TO THE SCHOOL CHAPTERS AND ADVISORS. THESE BROCHURES, POSTERS AND NEWSLETTERS SPREAD THE POSITIVE OUTCOMES OF OUR ANNUAL CONFERENCE, SUMMER CAMP TRAININGS, ADVISOR TRAININGS, CHAPTER TRAININGS AND OTHER EVENTS SPONSORED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR BY THE STUDENTS. THE ORGAINIZATION ALSO MAILS RESULTS OF SLS VALIDATION STUDIES, CURRENT RESEARCH ON ADOLESCENT HEALTH, DRUG EDUCATION, CHAPTER ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS, EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING SKILLS, SUICIDE PREVENTION, BULLYING, SAFE DRIVING AND ISSUES RELATED TO ADOLESCENT DEVELOPMENT.
