PROFESSIONAL MED TEAM AMBULANCE (PRO-MED), IS A NATIONALLY ACCREDITED NOT-FOR-PROFIT COMMUNITY SERVICE THAT WAS CREATED IN 1986. PRO-MED RESPONDS TO 9-1-1 EMERGENCY CALLS IN MUSKEGON COUNTY. IT ALSO RESPONDS TO REQUESTS FOR NON-EMERGENCY AMBULANCE TRANSPORTATION BETWEEN HEALTH CARE FACILITIES IN MUSKEGON AND OTTAWA COUNTIES. PRO-MED'S ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (ALS) AMBULANCES ARE OUTFITTED WITH CARDIAC MONITORING EQUIPMENT, DEFIBRILLATORS AND APPROXIMATELY 30 MEDICATIONS THAT CAN STABILIZE LIFE-THREATENING CONDITIONS. ALS AMBULANCES ARE STAFFED 24 HOURS A DAY WITH EXPERIENCED AND CARING PARAMEDICS WHO DELIVER PATIENT CARE UNDER PHYSICIAN-APPROVED MEDICAL PROTOCOLS. THEY ALSO CAN COMMUNICATE DIRECTLY WITH EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT PHYSICIANS WHILE AT THE PATIENT'S SIDE.
