THE GEORGE YOUNG RECREATIONAL COMPLEX IS ORGANIZED EXCLUSIVELY FOR CHARITABLE PURPOSES, INCLUDING, FOR THE PURPOSE OF LESSENING THE BURDEN ON GOVERNMENT, TO PROVIDE PUBLIC RECREATIONAL FACILITIES THROUGH THE OPERATION OF A RECREATIONAL COMPLEX FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC. DURING THE TAX YEAR THE COMPLEX CONTINUED ITS RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES AND EXPANDED ITS INDOOR SWIMMING PROGRAM. IT CONTINUED TO SPONSOR CROSS COUNTRY SKI PROGRAMS IN THE WINTER AND HIKING AND GOLF RELATED ACTIVITIES IN THE SUMMER. IT OFFERS GOLF AND DRIVING RANGE FACILITIES OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AT LOW OR REDUCED COSTS.

THE COMPLEX PROVIDES A DAILY FEE AND ANNUAL FEE GOLF COURSE AND DRIVING RANGE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
THE COMPLEX IS LOCATED IN A REMOTE AREA OF THE UPPER PENNISULA OF MICHIGAN. IT PROVIDES A LIMITED MENU OF FOOD AND DRINKS TO THOSE ENGAGING IN ACTIVITIES AT THE COMPLEX INCLUDING THOSE WHO MAY BE CAMPING NEXT DOOR AT PENTOGA PARK OR RENTING THE HISTORIC CABIN LOCATED ON THE COMPLEX PREMISES. THE GOLF COURSE HAS A BEVERAGE CART THAT IS STAFFED ON WEEKENDS AND DURING HOLIDAYS. THE DINING/BAR AREA PROVIDES REFRESHMENTS TO GOLFERS, SWIMMERS, HIKERS, CROSS-COUNTRY SKIERS AND OTHERS ENJOYING RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES AT THE COMPLEX OR IN THE GENERAL AREA.
THE COMPLEX PROVIDES A SWIMMING POOL OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND CHARGES A SMALL DAILY OR ANNUAL FEE FOR SUCH USAGE. IN ADDITION, THE POOL IS USED TO PROVIDE AQUA AROBICS TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO TAKE BASIC CLASSES.
