SUMMER PROGRAMMING INCLUDES SUMMER MAGIC, KEENAGERS AND TEEN CHALLENGES - SUMMER PROGRAM FOR YOUTH 5-18 YEARS OF AGE. THERE ARE THREE SITES IN NEWAYGO COUNTY. PROGRAM IS HELD FOR FOUR DAYS PER WEEK FOR EIGHT WEEKS, FIVE AND A HALF HOURS PER DAY.
SAFE SLEEP - TO PREVENT SUDDEN INFANT DEATH SYNDROME AND PROMOTE PROTECTED SLEEP. PROVIDES SPECTRUM GERBER MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, NEWAYGO COUNTY COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH AND THE DISTRICT HEALTH DEPARTMENT WITH EDUCATION MATERIALS AND SLEEP SACKS TO PROVIDE TO PARENTS. HELPS FAMILIES CREATE PROTECTED SLEEP ENVIRONMENTS BY PROVIDING SLEEP SACKS AND PACK-AND-PLAYS. SAFE TOUCH - SAFE/UNSAFE TOUCH AGE APPROPRIATE PRESENTATIONS AND EDUCATION FOR PRE-SCHOOL, FIRST, THIRD AND FIFTH GRADES. SAFE KIDS - EDUCATION REGARDING INTERNET SAFETY, POISONS, FIRES, BIKE INJURY, BOATING/SWIMMING SAFETY, CAR SEAT SAFETY AND OTHERS.
THE PARENTING EDUCATION PROGRAMS GIVE PARENTS THE TOOLS THEY NEED TO BE EFFECTIVE PARENTS. THE PERIOD OF PURPLE CRYING PROGRAM IS INTENDED TO PREVENT SHAKEN BABY SYNDROME BY PROVIDING SPECTRUM GERBER MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, NEWAYGO COUNTY COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH AND THE DISTRICT HEALTH DEPARTMENT WITH A DVD AND BOOKLET CONTAINING INFORMATION.
